SUBJECT Josef Abrams

Engagement Issues and Conclusions

Facts Josef Abrams paid $0,000 during the year for his children to attend Jewish schools. Abrams deducted $18,000 on his tax return based on the argument that 60% of his children's instruction was religious and related to the contributions to the temple for conducting its religious functions. He did not deduct the 40% of tuition that was related to secular education. Abrams presented his argument according to the case in which the IRS allowed members of the Church of Scientology to deduct the portion of fees paid to the church that were related to religious education. According to Abrams, a disallowance would constitute unequal application of the law.

Issues Should Mr. Abrams be allowed to deduct the $18,000, or any, that he declares went towards religious functions?Buy Josef Abrams term paper

Authority Section 170 or the IRC defines charitable contributions and general rules that apply. Section 170 (c)()(B) defines a charitable contribution as "organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes."

Rev. Rul. 70-47, 170-1 CB 4. The ruling identifies "pew rents, building fund assessments, and periodic dues paid to a church (an organization described in section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 154) are all methods of making contributions to the church, and such payments are deductible as charitable contributions within the limitations set out in section 170 of the Code."

Hernandez v. Commissioner 40 U.S. 680 (18). The Supreme Court held on the record presented that payments for auditing to the Church of Scientology were not deductible as charitable contributions because they represented a quid pro quo. The payer was receiving goods or services in return for the payment. The taxpayer in Hernandez had argued that the disallowance of the auditing payments represented an impermissible failure by the IRS to consistently enforce Section 170, relying on various revenue rulings. However, the Supreme Court rejected this contention because the record therein did not support it.

Michael and Marla Sklar v. Commissioner, TC Memo. 000-118, 7 TCM 1815 The Court stated that the value of a gift may be excluded from gross income only if the gift proceeds from a "detached and disinterested generosity" or "out of affection, admiration, charity, or like impulses." However, the Court ruled against Sklar and disallowed the deduction. The payments were identified in the nature of tuition for petitioners children, a personal expense. The payments were mandatory for tuition and therefore not deductible.

Conclusions Josef Abrams should not be allowed to deduct the $18,000 on his tax return. The payments made by Abrams were not made out of detached and disinterested generosity or out of affection, admiration, charity, or like impulses. The payer was receiving goods or services in return for the payment as in Hernandez v. Commissioner. According to Section 170, the contributions must be exclusively for religious purposes and in this case it was not. Along the same lines as Michael and Marla Sklar v. Commissioner, the payments were mandatory as tuition and hence not deductible.

"A Rose for Emily" can be interpreted in many ways. Faulkner stresses that "A Rose for Emily" is a ghost story. On the other hand, the content of the story has lack of any fragment dedicated to a straight manifestation of ghost, therefore it is difficult to support Faulkner's opinion. In spite of it, the stories there are elements such as sense of times, few episodes, and supportive evidences for Faulkner's explanation.

Emily is an old lady who is very stubborn. Faulkner manages to show this through different events that happen in the story and how she reacts towards them. One of the events that happened was when Emily received a tax notice in the mail telling her that she has to pay her taxes. At this point in time, Colonial Sartoris had been dead and there was no recollection in the city files of what he had told her. Because she had refused to send any money to pay her taxes and Aldermen had shown up at her door to settle the situation. When he told her that she to pay her taxes, Emily simply said "I have no taxes in Jefferson."(Faulkner, 14) The gentleman continued insisting that she should pay her taxes. Emily believed she was right and continued to say "see Colonial Sartoris. I have no taxes in Jefferson."(Faulkner, 14) This is the first time Faulkner revealed how stubborn Emily could be. She told the Alderman to leave and that was the end of it. The second incident that showed Emily was stubborn was when she went to the pharmacy to buy some poison. "I want some poison. I want the best you have. I don't care what kind"(Faulkner, 145) This gave me the impression that she was a little crazy and that it was possible that she was dangerous.

Emily did many things that made her character seem stubborn and crazy. Miss Emily would manage to make herself disappear for a certain amount of time. This will cause people to talk because no one would know where she was or what she was doing. At the end of they story when the town people were walking around her house, they finally found out what caused her house to smell disgusting. It was Homer Baron. He was laid down on a bed that was on a locked room. This was when they knew that she was crazy because she murdered the only lover she ever had. People in this town like to gossip a lot about Miss Emily. When she went to the pharmacy to buy some poison, the town was convinced she was going to kill herself. When her father died, people called and dropped by the house to give Miss Emily their condolences. For three years, she told them that he was not dead, but alive. She refused for her father's body to be disposed.

The town thought she was crazy. One of the things they talked about was Miss Emily's servant that worked for her. They made racial comments about him. People started to complain to the judge about the smell. He was not able to make anything of it. One lady complained that Miss Emily smelled bad.

In conclusion Miss Emily was a very troubled person. All of the problems started the day her father died. In my opinion she couldn't cope with it. Throughout the story Emily did many things like paying her taxes, buying poison, and the death of her father. All of this made her character look like a ghost.

When Hamlet asked himself, to be or not to be, he was facing the most common and tough

problem that every individual will experience in their life, that is making choice. Some

people usually complain that they were limited by the absanse of choice, actually, our life is full of

choices and some of them are obvious while the rest need people to discover. Therefore,

Do my essay on Choice CHEAP !

what really calls for effort is not waiting for choices but finding them and making best use

of them.

In the history of human beings, choices have never disappeared, or in other words, it is those

decisions of choices that create history. Two hunderd years ago, President Lincoln chose to unify

the North and South America but rather letting the country seperate into two segments. And this choice

undoubtedly contributed to the prosperty of America today. Two hunderd years later, when our society

becomes ever democratic and open, choices are more common, and to some extent, they seem to be

abundant around us, not only the political events but

also the daily life of normal people. Schools provide various courses for students to choose;

efficient transportatation provides individuals more resident locations; law donates people

the right to choose president.

Since so many choices are provided, individuals are endowed much more freedom to choose between

them as the development of human history. For instanse, compared with with women in ancient China,

who can only passively marry men arranged by their parents, the modern females have more opportunities

to meet different men and make a choice. Whats more, they can choose to dvorce after marriage, which

is still unbelievable 100 years ago. The freedom of making choice is not only permitted by the moral standard,

but also the protection of law and the development of technology. The law seems to limit some of our

action and choices, however, such limitation is to protect more choices that more peole can make.

And the development of technology plays an significant role to enriches our life and thus free us

for making choices. Candal frees us from dark; electricity makes the night as day; Internet connets

every corner of the world. These adavatages brought by technology undoubtedly add more opportunities

for making choices.

Admittedly, there still exists some circumstances of no chice for every individual. For example, no

one can choose their born and death. However, these circumstances are very rare. The absense of

choice can never be an excuse since every individual almost face the same amount of choices. The success

doesnt depend on the number of choices but the decision when facing choices. Some young people

chose to leave colleges and crave out in Silicon Valley several years ago, and now, they become the

most successful and richest man in the world. The choice to leave universities seems absurd for most

people, yet, it prove these young people adopted the right way.

In sum, since the society provieds numerous choices and gives us the freedom to choose between them, the

absance of choice become very scarce. We should spare no effort to finding choices when they are

around us since the most previous opportunity always hides out.

Please note that this sample paper on Choice is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on Choice, we are here to assist you. Big Brother Is Watching You. This single line sums up the fear of George Orwell's frightening futuristic society. 184 provides a terrifying glimpse of an all too possible society where there is no freedom, no rights, and no hope. There is only mindless obedience and compliance. Many details contribute to this portrait, such as the four ministries that rule the super-state of Oceania, the Thought Police, and even the language of Newspeak. However, the most startling facet is the alteration of history. All of these factors culminate in a vivid portrayal of an alarming future.

The main theme evident in Orwell's society is the lack of freedom and privacy. The Party assures this lack of privacy through the presence of telescreens and microphones hidden and exposed throughout the city of London. By removing almost all privacy, the Party has left neither time nor opportunity for a person to become rebellious or conspire with others. The Party not only removes freedoms of speech and actions, but also deters the freedom of thought through the presence of the Thought Police and the imposing pyramid of the Ministry of Love where rebellious citizens are broken in response to their deviant actions.

A seemingly minor, yet very important element of Orwell's future is the language of Newspeak. The character of Syme correctly describes the advantage of controlling the language

Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it (8).

It is almost unfathomable to think that any group or person could ever have such a complete control. Yet, if it were to happen that anyone could have the absolute power of the Party, the alteration of language would suddenly become very realistic and believable.

However, the most terrifying aspect of the future society is the Party's ability to not only control the present, but also, using that power, to alter the past. Ultimately, the Party is altering reality in itself. In doing this, the Party can assure its control over the future, thus creating a never-ending cycle of rule. The hopelessness of this cycle is evident in Winston's description of the proles

Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious (54).

This entry into Winston's diary shows the helpless situation of not only the proles, but also all of the citizens of Oceania. The citizens have no hope for a better future because there is nothing in the past to suggest that conditions have ever been better than they are now. The people are content because they believe that conditions are constantly improving, and therefore, will never revolt or riot against the seemingly benevolent government.

Tactics of control that are based on fear and bullying predominate throughout the novel. The futuristic society so vividly depicted in George Orwell's 184 presents a dark, gloomy view of the future; a future where war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength, and ultimately, if the Party wills it, + = 5.

Why do you need an Escape Plan?

Everybody in your house needs to know how to get safely out of any room,

and where to meet outside.

If there is a fire, it will be very dark. The smoke will make it hard to seeDo my essay on Fire safety CHEAP !

and hard to breathe. It can be very scary and confusing.

You want everybody in your house to know where all the exits are and how

to get to them. You want to pick a single meeting place so you will know if

anyone is missing.

How do you create an Escape Plan?

Create a floorplan for each floor in your home showing all the exits and labeling all

the rooms. (Click on the sample floorplan to see an example.)

Draw arrows from each room to at least two different escape routes (outside doors

or windows). Make each escape route as short as possible.

Select a place outside the house where the whole family will meet if there is a fire.

It should be away from the house and it should be easy for everyone to get to

safely. (Small children or people who have difficulty walking should not have to

cross a busy street, for example.)

Study the plan with the whole family and make sure they understand where their

rooms are, where the exits are and the path they would take to an exit. Copy the plan and place a copy in each persons bedroom and a main room, such as the kitchen. Make sure that every person in the family is able to open each of the doors or windows he or she would use to escape.

How do you Exit your house in a fire?

The most important rule is to stay away from the smoke and fire. Bedroom doors

should be closed at night. That way fire cannot spread if it starts when you are

sleeping.

If you are in bed when you hear a smoke alarm or smell smoke, dont sit up or

stand up! Roll out of bed and stay low. Smoke rises so the air will be cleaner

near the floor.

Cover your nose and mouth with a cloth or towel, if you can. Crawl to the door,

reach up as high as you can and feel the door with the BACK of your hand. If it

is hot, you could burn the palm of your hand and that would make it hard to crawl.

If the door is cool, open it very slowly. If there is no smoke or fire, crawl out toward

an exit. Yell and bang on the wall as you go to warn other family members.

Continue crawling (stay away from smoke and flames) until you reach a safe exit.

Then run or walk quickly to a neighbors house and ask them to call the fire

department. Or make sure that someone has called 11. Then go to the meeting

place the family selected.

NEVER go back into the house for any reason. Tell firefighters if a person

or pet is missing.

What if you're trapped in your house?

You crawl to the door, reach up high and touch the door with the back of

your hand.

The door is hot! What do you do now?

Do NOT open the door. If the door is hot that means smoke and fire is on the

other side. Find a towel, blanket or sheet to shove under the door to keep smoke

out of the room. If you have water, wet the towel or blanket before you put it

under the door.

Crawl back to a window. Open it or break it with a heavy object (cover your face

and eyes). Signal with a cloth and yell so firefighters know where you are located.

If the window is very close to the ground (5 feet or less) climb out and get away

from the building.

Practice, Practice, Practice

ICT in society essay question

In this essay I shall try to explain the role of i.c.t used in society e.g. how i.c.t has changed society and industry over the last 0 years, and how it is used in employment, leisure etc, and what rights we have under the data protection act.

In the early days of i.c.t it was mainly used for basic typing and programming but since then technology is upgrading and is never stopping!! Computers keep upgrading and their specs are always increasing to create superior computers, their many uses now include communication, word processing gaming, shopping(via internet). Mainly today we used it in almost everything we do however it is used in production and manufacturing, used by all companies of every different size, and even in sports such as football and other types of small areas such as this. For my essay I shall prove my point by showing how in a particular field ICT is used today, this is to show ICT is used in almost everything today.

Firstly I shall discuss how ICT is used in personal communication to put across my point of viewBuy custom Benji term paper

The Internet

· People have a wide range of products and services to choose from

· They have access to businesses all over the world

· They can buy products on-line easily and have access to a range of internet only special officers

Mobile phones

· Contacting people on the move

· Personal security, including alerting emergency services

· The cost and ease of keeping in touch with others

· The use of WAP technology to access the Internet

· Disadvantages of mobile phone use - eg high tariffs, overuse, nuisance of using phones in public

Entertainment and leisure

· The range of technologies available eg DVD, CD ROM, Minidisk, MP

· How the development of ICT is affected by the consumers changing needs and tastes - for example, more realistic computer games

Education and lifelong learning

· Access opportunities for people from varied locations

· The range of learning opportunities available

· Access to up to date and comprehensive research materials

These bullet points all show the way in which IT affects our personal/communication.

You could also see how ICT affects those with special or particular needs

· sensory impairment

· physical disability

· limited mobility

· learning difficulties

· language difficulties

· multiple disabilities

You will also see here how ICT can enable people with special/particular needs to access and exchange information and carry out transactions, using standard technology, such as

· Vibrate alert telephones and pagers

· Video conferencing

· SMS

· Online shopping

You will investigate what specially-adapted ICT hardware and software is available, such as

· Incoming speech amplifiers and induction loops

· Speech synthesisers and voice recognition systems

· Environmental control systems

The changes that ICT brings to this group in society mirrors changes that the industry brings to other user groups, such as schools and colleges, rural groups, and official agencies. Which can affect the current situation that we are in at the moment with means of prejudice etc, and ICT can help prevent this enabling people from all walks of life to do several different things.

Now I will try to discuss one area in particular to try and in depthen the role of ICT even more

Land Use Conflicts In The Lake District

Throughout the Lake District, there are three primary arguments concerning land use, these are as follows;

• Tourists versus Residents

• Tourists versus TouristsCheap Custom Essays on Land Use Conflicts In The Lake District

• Tourists versus Farmers

From the above information we can conclude that tourists are obviously not the most popular in the Lake District.

The Residents have good reason to argue with the tourists, during the holiday season, and during bank holidays, incoming and outgoing tourist traffic to popular areas known as honey-pots causes traffic congestion on the narrow, long, winding Lake District roads. This congestion not only aggravates the locals, but can also lead to the delay of emergency service vehicles (i.e. Ambulances, Police Cars). These honey-pots are so popular that many tourist-style shops are set up in the area, so much so in some areas, for example Grasmere, that the tourist shops (4) far outnumber the convenience shops that are useful for the locals (1). Also, some returning tourists buy houses in the area, recent statistics show that roughly one in six houses in the area are now either holiday homes or second homes. Because people who own these homes don't stay there for the majority of the year, and don't use local facilities like the library, bus stops, and the local shop, thus many services close down due to low usage. This causes some residents to travel further to school etc, aggravating them even more, and causing some to move away, escalating the problem further. Because of these second homes/holiday homes, house prices in the area rise dramatically, which mean that many local residents may not be able to afford house prices in the area.

Tourists also cause problems among fellow tourists, for instance, tourists who enjoy more sombre recreational activities, like fishing, walking etc may not get along too well with tourists who crave more exciting pastimes, examples being water-skiing and motor boating, making too much noise for those who just want to escape the urban crowdedness.

Also, some tourists destroy or damage the scenery or features that other tourist are wanting to see or use, for example eroding of hillsides or simply the sheer number of people in the area.

The final land use conflict is that of tourists versus farmers, which is as follows. Many tourists that visit the area wish to explore the various hills of the area, some of them leave the gates of farmers land open. This annoys farmers to no end, as it can lead to animals wandering through the gates into areas they're not supposed to be. This is an example of tourists not obeying the country code. Also, some visitors drop litter, which not only makes the landscape look untidy, but some animals can swallow this litter, causing them to choke and in some cases die. Another reason for farmers being annoyed at tourists is that of footpath erosion, this is when tourists trample hillside vegetation leaving a 'path' of bare soil, which is washed away frequently when it rains, footpath erosion is also caused by mountain bikers, horse riders and off-road vehicles.

Music Education

Music Education is an important role in the early foundation of children. A music magazine called "The Instrumentalist" did a study showing children who studied music had higher grades on standardize test. Too many times with today's crisis of funding music education is the first to go. This needs to stop. Music education is vital in children's lives. Music gives children a sense of security, teaches children courtesy and most important teaches children patience.

According to, Ideas and Styles in the Western Musical Tradition has music being around since early primitive man. It was their way of communicating. It is amazing to think that before language was established, before structures were built, and even before history was being written; music was around. Music was being performed in the caves and woods of prehistoric world. From early primitive man on to the likes of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven music was important in their life. These three men are most noted for music and these men are the people that most non-music (people who do not study music) know, but there is a whole other world of music out there waiting to be tapped into but when schools cut programs it seems that first to go is music.

Why are music/art humanities the first to go? It is because no one stands up and fights for the program. In smaller school districts music programs does not strive as well as basketball, or football does. Children are not interested in the idea of playing music over playing a sport. Also in those school districts they look at the monetary value of each program, and when it gets down to it the athletic program brings money in and music does not, because music programs will not charge admittance into their concerts. I don't believe, however, that the school districts should look at the monetary value of any program. When it gets down to it, what program does bring in money for the school? Does the English, or Math program bring money in? NO!

Buy custom Music Education term paper

The effects of a cut music program is damaging to any school. A Child who found security and a place that wanted and needed them no longer exist. Their life is forever changed. That music geek will no longer be allowed to communicate in that primitive way. The child's test scores will began to falter, and their overall happiness will fail. I feel that a school should do everything in their power to keep children well motivated when it comes to education. Many times children are more motivated when they are involved in music. "No child left behind," should be the motto of every school, and the school should realize that cutting music programs really leaves the children behind.

Music education is a program that everyone should fight for. Instead of fight for the basketball team, we the team size is no larger than 15, how about directing your energy towards the music program where the class size can range from any where from 5 students to 500. If test scores show that the child who had music education has a higher score why should there even be a debate over the music program? Cutting music programs should and must stop. Keeping one child away from the joys of making music it like killing that child. I know that it would have killed me if I did not have that safe band room, and band teacher in my not so safe life.

EDITH WHARTON'S INFLUENCES

New York City society was a major influence in Edith Wharton's life. The society discouraged her from achieving anything past a marriage. It required her to keep quiet and silent. These restrictions caused her to reveal her emotions through her work. The restrictions of New York created a repressive environment for Wharton in her early youth. Her world was made up of strict social codes and proper behavior, that if not followed could have major consequences. Most of Wharton's stories are about wealthy people, usually women, who challenged society much like Wharton did.

Wharton lived at a time when roles of women were very limited and guidelines were set for what was acceptable behavior and what was not. These guidelines were very strict and specific. The fear of not meeting the standards, along with an unhappy twenty-eight year marriage to Edward Wharton and the fact that writing novels was considered something more of a job than a knowledge or talent were just the inspirations that Wharton needed to make noticeable the imprisonment of women as well as her writing skills. Not only did she believe that these women were physically trapped within the four walls of their homes, but that they were also trapped psychologically by the circumstances of the social status as well as their gender.

Wharton was a severe critic of society. Her stories seemed to blame many problems on the rules for the wealthy. She was very harsh on men in her novels, and made them appear very weak in her stories. Even though she knew that men were the ones who had all the power in the real society, but no one escaped without being criticized in her stories.

Marriage, children and home keeping were to be the number one priorities of a woman's life, and Wharton was a master at showing how those images may be blessings for some women, but for others might have felt like a prison that took their spirits away from them.

You can see from some of her stories that Wharton tries to expose how some women are given and are told by society what they must have in their lives. Those things are family, home and security. These were all things that influenced her ideas and stories.

For Edith Wharton to question the political correctness of the times, it was not unexpected. She was not the only writer of her time period to question the attitudes of the twentieth century.

One of her most influential writers, Henry James, who was also one of her closest friends, was also involved in the same type of criticism writing. His friendship along with his guidance helped Ms. Wharton to develop her style. For Henry James and Edith Wharton, it gave them the opportunity to show exactly what was going on in their social structures, and also gave them the opportunity to present their talents.

In Edith Wharton's final story, she presents an image of a woman who is alone and widowed for years, but appears to be extremely happy and surviving at a comfortable level. This was her biggest inspiration, her own life. After divorcing her husband of twenty-eight years, Wharton never remarried, but the thought of remarrying never even crossed her mind. She was happy where she was and the people she was with. All of these gave her the inspiration to write all of the novels that she did.

Racism

Introduction

According to ICERD (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) racism is defined as "Any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, color, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment, or exercise, on equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, or any other field of public life." Keeping this definition in mind, the following web site http//globalissues.org/HumanRights/Racism.asp gives us the details of racial discrimination in various countries, from Europe to the Middle East to Asia, including the tyranny of Adolph Hitler. Based on the region, the website is divided into segments. It is very concise in its approach at describing the events, which gives the reader a fair view of what to expect in the given segment.

Analysis on the Impact of Racism

Buy cheap Racism and Inequality term paper

Racism may not be practiced as openly today but still does exist in our day to day lives. A very simple example could be that of a shake hand. It is a show of confidence and respect to shake someone's hand firmly when you greet them. In some cases people would just tough their finger tips. I generally wonder if they shake hands like that with everyone or is it just that they have other issues running in their minds. What ever the reason, a sort of uncomfortable feeling crosses my mind. Often times, I have wondered if this is racism, and I am on the receiving end.

This is a very simple, and probably not a very strong example. This may be just my point of view. Nevertheless, there are other issues that are much more grievous and undesirable. A Bangladeshi community was bombed in London where seven people were injured. Such hatred is of no consequence. People should realize that human life is invaluable, once lost can never be replaced. Also, how can one human be the judge of others? No other human can think he/she is superior to the other just because of the color of their skin or ethnicity.

Thus, people who are "different" would definitely feel out of place in case they are treated disrespectfully.

Conclusion

The website describes the various events and occurrences in all parts of the world, thus covering global racism. This gives us a good overview of what is happening and where it's happening. The only difficulty is analyzing why it's happening and when it is all going to end. There may not be a direct solution for such a global problem. One approach could be that of awareness acquired through education. People should respect one another.

It is not enough to just preach about equality, it should be practiced and advocated. By adopting this policy, it would be possible to reach out to everyone.

The web site does a good job of capturing the various aspects of racism. It elaborates by giving hyperlinks all throughout the article without having the trouble of scrolling down the page to look up the references. Also, the author updates his home page which tells us that he is up to date with the latest happenings. His detailed analysis supported by newspaper articles and other links, gives us the authenticity of

Patriarchy Gets Funky

In the early ninties student bodies rallied against the social injustice that was occurring amongst their academic community. Riots arose over things that have now become part of a manipulative marketing scheme for corporate industries. Same sex issues, racism and sexism were a few of the many problems that these intellectuals were fighting against. Unfortunately "personal politics" consumed most activists, letting the real problem slip out of reach.

Initially trying to subvert the images that were being exhibited in magazines, television shows and advertisements seemed like the right thing to do. Eventually striving for a better social environment fell victim to it's own narcissism.Buy cheap Chapter Five Patriarchy Gets Funky term paper

Mainstream enemies didn't feel a threat towards these activist, they accepted them with open arms, dissected the occurrences and used them to their advantage.

Niche marketing strategies arose and schools of new cutting edge imagery were produced. If this was what the public wanted this was what the public was going to get. The changes that occurred after these demonstrations were not a result of a victoriously fought war of equality and justice, but a marketing scheme for more profit. This suppressed society was now subconsciously turned into a dominant group of consumers. The identity politics they once rallied for was now a feeding troth for advertisers. By trying to kill the monster of supremacy they made them stronger. Gays and lesbians became new ad campaigns. Feminists became logos on T shirts that were produced by young women in third world war countries for unreasonable wages, which in turn demeaned the basic principals of feminism. Selling atypical Diversity had become a full throttle sales pitch, and the western civilization was buying into it.

Consumed by the promises, colors and antics, the youth of today becomes the leading target market in this global promotion scheme. Because the youth is more culturally absorbed it makes it easier for marketers to advertise, not only through ads and commercialism but also through the youth, which affects direct family members. Physiological marketing schemes are making chicken Mc Nuggets the epiphany of nutrition within the youth culture. Coke, not just sugar water, a seduction potion that is bound to attracted the other sex. Who is the target market of all this well advertised rubbish? None other than the youth of today. The Economy is positioned where it is because of demographics. The youth culture is the bulls eye target market of the present and the future.

Ethics and moral principals of humanity are being manually manufactured. The branding culture is slowly overpowering the human physic. In order for this to dissipate Today's media activists cannot create weapons, but use the ones that have been created by media itself. Drastic measures will and have been taken. New political and social culture walls are slowly building. Hopeful new cries are being heard from high schools and campuses around the country. In the end, what better source to start from then the one that is feeding the problem.

Should Israel be Muslim or Jewish?

If you order your custom term paper from our custom writing service you will receive a perfectly written assignment on Should Israel be Muslim or Jewish?. Should Israel be Muslim or Jewish?

That's a very interesting question, however I am unable to make this decision because I believe that neither of these two religions give those people the hope for the future that is found in the bible.

I feel the question that is more relevant is "How can a person (not a nation) know which religion is right?" The best way to do this is to consider seriously the following questions about religion.

1) On what are its teachings based? Are they from god or are they largely from men? The Bible says at Timothy 16, 17- All scriptures are inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

For Example the bible does not teach that the human soul is immortal, to the contrary the Bible says at Ecclesiastes 5 "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten".

) Consider whether it is making known the name of God.

Jesus said in prayer to god "I made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world"(John 176) Also Jesus declared "It is Jehovah your god you must worship and to him alone you must render sacred service"(Matt 410). Has your religion taught you that 'it is Jehovah you must worship'? Have you come to know the Person identified by that name-his purposes, his activities, his qualities-so that you can confidently draw close to him?

) Is it largely ritualistic or is it a way of life?

God strongly disapproves of religion that is merely formalism. (Isa. 115-17) True religion upholds the Bible's standard of morality and clean speech instead of weakly going along with popular trends. (1 Cor. 5-1; Eph. 5-5) Its members reflect the fruits of God's spirit in their lives. So, those who adhere to true worship can be identified because they sincerely endeavor to apply Bible standards in their lives not only at their places of meeting but in their family life, at their secular work, in school, and in recreation.

4) Do its members truly love one another?

Jesus said "By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you truly have love among yourselves." (John 15) Such love reaches across racial, social, and national boundaries drawing people together in genuine brotherhood. So strong is this love that it sets them apart as being truly different. When the nations go to war, who have enough love for their Christian brothers in other lands that they refuse to take up arms and kill them? That is what early Christians of the first Century did and is what true Christians continue to do today.

So in answer to the question, "Should Israel be Muslim or Jewish", I believe each person has the right to choose their own religion, because after all their everlasting future depends on it. The Bible is a precious gift from God. It is like a letter from a loving father to his children. It tells us the truth about God - who he is and what he stands for. It explains how to cope with problems and how to find true happiness. The Bible alone tells us what we must do to please God. Psalm 11-; Isaiah 4817, 18.

In the future I plan to be a nurse. My major right now is nursing. I want to become a nurse because I care about people. I don't like to see people in pain. My plan so far is to attend college and do the best I can to get into the nursing program. I have been told by many people that becoming a nurse isn't easy, but they haven't scared me away from pursuing my dream. In order for me to get in I have to have at least a B average or I will be turned down. I promise myself that I would do it and I will because I don't make empty promises. I believe that I can do it because I have many people in my family who are nurses if they can become a nurse then I have no doubt in my mind that I can also.

Once I am in the nursing program, I will try to do my best. After I complete college I will attend a nursing school. In the end I hope that I will become a registered nurse hopefully, I will get a job in a hospital or a nursing home. I haven't decided to do nursing for the money, so I will take a job anywhere that needs me, no matter what the pay is just as long as I can make a difference. Once I am settled in my job, I plan to continue my education. There are always advances in medicine so it's important that I am aware of it. If I have a lot of education and skill, then I'll always be able to get a job. My mother tells me that the farther I go in getting an education, the better my chances are for success and comfortable living.

I have been interested in medicine for as long as I can remember. I would watch all the television programs that have to do with medicine. The shows that I would watch were about things such as major surgery, birth, and emergency situations like a shooting or car accident. I always wondered what it would feel like to save a person's life. I wondered what it feels like to be those doctors and nurses. So when I become a nurse, I will finally know what it feels like. I first thought about becoming a nurse when I was watching a movie about a woman with cancer. I wanted so very much to help ease her pain. I watched how the doctor and the nurses looked after her and I knew that I could do the same.

Once I have been a nurse for a good long time, I am going to start my own business that will take care of individuals that aren't very fortunate. I plan to work on under privileged people; I have heard many stories of people not being treated because they do not have the means to pay. I don't believe that because someone doesn't have enough money, they don't deserve a chance to be healthy the same way as a person with money. I have seen programs about children that are very sick and they just need a little caring to get better, but their parents don't have much money so they can't afford to go to the doctor. I once watched a show about a woman who died when she only needed a special injection to keep her alive, but she couldn't because there wasn't any money left for her to receive the drug she needed. When I am a nurse I intend to work on people even if they don't have the money for medical attention.

My life plans are very important to me; it's has basically given me a reason for being here on earth. My purpose will be to give people caring and understanding. The lives of people will be in my hands and I hope that I will help make them live a long and healthy life. I will be very happy when I have succeeded in doing all I have planned. If I only end up being a nurse that is still an accomplishment in its own.

Nonsmokers tend to think just that smokers should consider more about them, but they also should understand smokers.@ Some companies tried prohibiting their employees from smoking. Thanks to this attempt, the air in these companies became clean and nonsmokers were glad, though the number of smokers who left work to smoke increased. What do you think of this attempt? Is it indeed rational?

Some nonsmokers propose that smoking should be banned in all public places, because tobacco, especially secondhand smoke, is no good for our health. @Though I hate smoke and I know smoke sometimes causes cancer and asthma, I canft possibly assent to this proposal because about fifty percent of men and ten percent of women in Japan smoke. That is to say about thirty percent of the population is smoking. Most of them can release their stress by the grace of smoking and it is one of their pleasures, and furthermore, itfs one of their habits. Is there anything we should do before we contemplate how to forbid smoking?

In Japan, education of smoking harm has begun in elementary school since 18 and in junior high school since 184. This means people over thirty years old were never able to get a good education of tobacco. They were, rather, taught that smoking was cool, so smoking became one of their habits. It is easy for us to tell them that they should give up smoking but it is very difficult for them to do so though they know smoking is no good for their health. So the government should equip children with a good enough education of tobacco so as not to increase the number of smokers.

Certainly, recent smokersf manners are bad. For instance, some of them smoke without scruples while they are walking and therefore nonsmokers come to smoke unwillingly. Then they offer the plan like prohibition against smoking in all public places. However itfs too severe, so I suggest we make smoking rooms in all public places. Of course it is not open, but completely closed. Itfs better to put machines like air cleaners to separate smoke and clean air in the room.

Write my Essay on Let's Think about Coexistence of Smokers and Nonsmokers for me

Technology is improving day by day. Though these machines are expensive and not well known now, they will be cheaper in the future and it will be possible to put them in all public places. And it ought to be also possible that we invent cigarettes which do not emit harmful secondhand smoke. Affording to improve vending machines of tobacco, scientists should strive for creating something that is more useful to solve the problem of smoking harm.

Naturally, there are a variety of people in society and each of them has his or her own ideas. We have to have respect for each other to live together. We can say the case of tobacco problem is the same as it, canft we? Smokers and nonsmokers should understand each otherfs position and coexist. In fact, nonsmokers need smokersf cooperation for the sake of reducing the number of smokers. We often think only about our own position, so letfs take other positions into consideration. Then you can change tracks.

Throughout our lives we see many relationships get started up, and at the same time we witness the breaking up of these relationships. Trust, communication, equality, and respect become key factors essential to a relationship, positioned in your way of thought in ways like parents, school, church, TV, friends, self experience and more. Equality is the one thing that at times, voluntarily or not, gets pushed out of sight giving way to specific gender roles. More harmful than not, is how these inscribed roles can be the cause to end a relationship.

In the article "Who's Cheap?" Adair Lara speaks of how while women have the desire to be treated equally to men, they associate men as the ones responsible for taking care of the economical part of the relationship. Adair doesn't agree to this idea, and she goes through her reading showing and poising examples on how this is a double standard. At a time, I found myself involved in this false notion of being a gentleman, and sought for a high maintenance relationship, and a girl that would want me buying her whatever she wanted. This whole idea and belief was reorganized when I met a girl, a very independent girl.

Her name was Jalena, and before her I had never been asked out on a date, yet alone have a girl pay for my movie ticket, dinner tab, and have her also be the driver. Overcoming that initial uncomfortable feeling was an overwhelming feeling that fulfilled, and came over me. In the opposite sex situation, Adair has a "bracing encounter with her own values" (6) when her friend Danny tells her "As a woman, you are so genetically precious that you deserve

attention just because you grace the planet. So, of course, he should buy you drinks, He should also drive the car, open the door, ask you to dance, coax you to bed. And then when you feel properly pampered, you can let out that little whine about how he doesn't treat you as an equal." (6) Through this experience Adair should not completely disregard men of doing things for her, but at the same time consider taking part in these kinds of things for it would strengthen the relationship.

The "double standard" (5) of the male having to pay for everything surely is the mind set of many females, but you find yourself asking where did equality go running off to this time? This was exactly the case in a more resent relationship of mine; not that I now dread paying for a date, and thus why the relationship did not work, but when this double standard took its place in our relationship, it gradually ended it. Adair's Friend Skye "…broke up with her boyfriend because when they went to the movies he doled out M&Ms to her one at a time." (6) Sure, maybe he should have been giving her hand fills, or even giving them to her in her mouth. But I did not read of Skye ever giving him M&Ms, or doing any relative kind of favors for him.

So should the wellbeing of a relationship in the sense of equality be the responsibility of the male? I cohere with no, and as times change, and women seek equality amongst the world, a sense of equality amongst relationships should also be found. This has already been seen to take its toll amongst the newer generations, and it will not be long until it is seen as essential for a relationship, and the old ways become irrelevant.

A Glimpse of A. E. Houseman'sWrite my Essay on A Glimpse of A. E. Houseman's"When I was one-and-twenty" for me

"When I was one-and-twenty"

In his poem When I was one-and-twenty A. E. Houseman sketches for us, in two lighthearted octaves that nevertheless carry somber and sad overtones, an emotional portrait of a flawed romantic who at "one-and-twenty" was a provincial youth refusing to heed any advice contrary to his own desire. Herein, Houseman paints with words a mixed picture, both that of a headless youth and a romantic (if not misbegotten) hero; and by such contrasts and use of literary symbols Houseman weaves for us the rueful themes of the fleetingness of love and the decay of youth, the heart of which characterizes much of his poetic work.

Ambling along to the time of an iambic, hexametric rising rhythm with a catchy extra beat on every other line, Houseman saunters along through the emotional reminiscences of an eternal voice of youth in an arrangement akin to song as much as to prose. We're obviously to take this poem and enjoy the sound of it, and the appeal to our emotions, more than to ponder over the intellectual aspects of it, though certainly they are there. There is an ironic argument between the alternate values of love and wealth in that the value of love is characterized by the comparison of the, "heart" (4) to precious, "pearls [and] rubies," (5) with the heart being held most sacred, and in comparison, precious gems worthy of nothing but being given away; yet, why would one feel obliged to give away one's wealth if it were not a concern of the heart? Trump! The, "wise" advice is trumped by the realization of it's own values. Indeed, it is as if the ironies of wisdom demand the learning of sacred truths by way of the very same experiences wisdom might have us forego. It causes one to wonder Is it wisdom that defines the value, or rather, the experience? Yet regardless of the intellectual aspect buried in Houseman's ditty, or perhaps in spite of it (where, in the end, our romantic is reminiscing, "'tis true,") the focus here is certainly not the intellect, but rather, the emotion.

Houseman's arrangement lends the poem both a certain air of nonchalance in its simple musical rhythm, and of complexity in its twisting rhyme scheme, complementing his intertwined themes of fleeting love and youths decay. The focus is invariably on love and youth where the thrice quoted, previously "one-and-twenty" (lines 1, 7 and ) romantic, now (in line 15) at "two-and-twenty" is sulking in lovelorn isolation. Houseman has merged youthful determination with the pain of heartbreak where before there had been, "No use to talk to [our romantic]," (8) because he (or she) could not listen to anything other than his/her heart, yet the price nevertheless, "[twas] paid with sighs aplenty and [his/her heart] sold for endless rue," (14). Finally, in the climax of this emotional rendition of yet, only, one rung on the ladder of wisdom, in the end (line 16), Houseman unites both into one nostalgic theme The pain and disillusionment of first heartbreak, "Oh, 'tis true,'tis true," and what a beautiful and sad song it is.

The contrast of men to women in the planning of a

special occasion is extreme. Most women preferring to

plan a slightly more sophisticated gathering, where

men are more comfortable with a toned down, come as youBuy cheap Men and Women term paper

are type mind set.

When selecting the food for the occasion, a woman

is more apt to find a fine eating establishment or a

respectable catering service to provide a delectable

assortment of finger sandwiches and appropriate ordourves.

Men, however; are generally more inclined to have one of

their buddies cook some steaks or hot dogs on the barbecue

grill and serve it with chips and potato salad. As far

as drinks are concerned, women would generally like to

have a nice wine or champagne to celebrate a special

occasion. In contrast, whether he will admit it or not,

most men would prefer to have beer or hard liquor to

celebrate, whatever the occasion may be!

Boyce

In the selection of apparel, a women would prefer

to take her time in carefully choosing just the right

outfit for each occasion. From the dress, pantsuit,

jewelry, purse, right to the perfect pair of shoes.

As for the man, the clothing would not be as formal.

Men preferring comfort to the current trend in fashion.

Most of the time women will be dressed in such a way

that everything matches perfectly and not one thing is

out of place. Men, in general, figure that as long as

theyre dressed appropriately, thats what counts!

Activities at the party are another source of

a differing approach to organizing a special occasion.

Men often prefer some type of physical activity to

entertain their guests. While women, more often than

not, would plan more intellectual activities to fill

in the time. Overall, both men and women want their

guests to have an enjoyable experience at their planned

function.

As far as the inviting of people, women will send

a written invitation with an R.S.V.P. attached to it.

Most men, on the other hand, would rather just call

people or invite people as he sees them, because it

will save time and money. Most women are more likely

to invite someone new to a gathering, while men like

to stick with who they know well. Men and women are

Boyce

both likely to invite family as well as friends. Men,

however; usually invite fewer people than women do,on

the whole. They are also less likely to invite distant

relatives as compared to closer relations.

The subject of the location of the party can also

be a place of discrepency. Women are more likely to

entertain in their own home. A place where they are

comfortable and have an assortment of accomplishments

that they can share with their friends. Men are just

as comfortable at the local Pub-n-Grub and would con-

sider the option as one that would contain their clean

up time after the party!

The contrast in which men and women think about

and plan a special occasion is almost comical, because

women usually have very clear ideas about how they want

things done. Men are generally more laid back in their

approach to planning a party or anything else. Usually

the case is, that the man does have some ideas about what

he wants also, but simply does not speak his mind as

readily as a women does. Especially if the man in

question is married to the women who is planning the

party. He wants to keep the peace, if he wants a quiet

life after the party ends. These types of occasions are

the most fun because you can observe how truely different

men and women can be!

Still, got to think positive. I got my first assigment back today, our tutor explained to us that at this stage we werent going to be getting above 70%, and all that matters for this year is that we get over 40%, as thats a pass. So I was pretty pleased to get 6%. Ive also discovered that one of the lads in my group is studying LotR for their assignment too.

Maff is back!

Tomorrow is Jaxs birthday. Wednesday is Crick and my brothers birthday. Saturday is my aunts birthday. Ahh!

Not exactly a GIP! but this icon (stolen [with permission] from someone on DL_anon) just is genius. Its as cool as the Doms a big stupidhead one, which always makes me giggle.

And thank you, Crick. I feel a lot better now. I should have known not to worry.

In the old days they repeated everything three times so you only need to write 170 words and then vary them.

eg.

They went full throttle in the produce isle. The two boys went full throttle in the produce isle. Elijah and Dominic went full throttle in the produce isle. He took the cock into his hand. With firm grip he took the cock into his hand. Dominic stroked the cock with his hand.

In general, movies are classified into categories like romance, action, drama and one of the most popular attractive categories is science fiction. Science fiction movies are that kind of movies that mainly rely on imagination and visualization of the future and how would the world be at that time. Science fiction is usually targeted for all age's e.g. scary movies are mainly targeted for adults and star wars, lord of the rings ect is for young ages to teenagers. Science fictional films are really interesting because they use computerized images and features to improvise and make things that are unimaginable. When I researched the alien trilogy I found out that they pushed technology to another level meaning they used things that are a bit too unrealistic e.g. alien coming out of a woman's womb. In the beginning we see the inside of RIPLEYS body with a whole variety of different colours in order to give us a chilling first impressions of the film. The whole theme of the film is based on outer space, humans vs. aliens, the characters in the scene we watched looked very un-normal to what we see in normal life, scientists who looked very desperate with the invention they had created as for Ripley she was only needed for the operation and to produce the baby dinosaur which would later be a weapon of mass destruction. The security guards in the film look really like they didn't have a clue with what was going on, they felt like they was there only for a purpose which they had no access to. The scene is directed in a very spooky way to show the audience this is something special something that's never been seen before they use fades after the creature is born to try and amaze the audience, they use a whole variety of different computerized images e.g. outer space, aliens, ect. The whole reason to use these different shots, freeze frames, and slow motion, is to try to make things that have not been made in history before, improvise to make something that can really make a big hit in the box office and make millions for the film producers. The camera work is done in a neat manner using distance shots, the camera facing particular angles, focusing on one object for a long period of time. They are all used in particular ways because they don't really want the film to be straight forward again they only want to make an impact on the audience. Light effect makes the film different in a lot of ways because if they used bright colours in scary movies in what way would that scare the audience that is why it is so important to have the lighting in films as accurate to the theme as possible when they say Alien Trilogy they mean dark colours, mean monsters, brave humans ect. The sounds they use in the film are very creepy, scary, spooky something chilling, something to scare the audience with something to make them want to watch more and more of the film. Ripley looks like a normal woman in the film being opened up to what seemed to be her having a normal baby but really turned out to be an alien baby. The baby alien looked very ferocious when it was taken out of Ripley's stomach. It had what looked like silver teeth. In conclusion I think the film is a really mind thrilling film which was made by professionals that knew what they were doing not some lame producer at trying to make his millions and producing his first film.

Nightly Event at a Club

What should you do at 1 A.M when you're just hanging around the same old tedious place, in your simple living room, with your group of close friends. You're all bored and there is nothing good on television and most places that you frequently hang out at are closed? Consider going out to a club for some fun entertainment.

The line was very lengthy outside, for it was a Saturday night. It stretched from the rear of the club to the access of a sky train station. The weather was unpleasantly cold. Whenever my friends turned towards me to talk, I could see frost that was coming out of their mouth as they spoke. It took half an hour for us to get to the front of the line. Although it was only half an hour, it seemed more like a year because of how eager we were to get inside the club. I guess we teenagers need to be taught about how to be patient.

So my friends and I, after having our ID's checked continually, walked into the crowded club. Just because we look younger than 1 they take so long to look over our ID's. The liquor left a concentrated stench behind. The generously proportioned room was very dark and foggy. The atmosphere you could say was… gloomy, but yet not depressing. The music was playing loudly. I could not hear anything my friends said to me. I couldn't adjust quickly to my surroundings as well as my experienced friends could. I haven't been here as often as they had.

So I the place smelled horrible… it reeked!!! In fact it wasn't a very pleasant aroma. I took my mind off the ugly smell in the club and walked over to the bar to get a drink, away from the dance floor where my girlfriends were. They appeared to be having a lot of fun. I ordered a vodka, this appealing guy sitting next to me also ordered the same drink. As I reached for my drink my fingers slipped and I realized that I had spilt my drink on the unfortunately handsome guy next to me. I blushed as I said sorry and tried to wipe the liquor off his dress shirt. He smiled and said it was okay. Of course it wasn't though. I felt so embarrassed for being so stupid and clumsy in front of such a handsome guy.

At this moment I knew people around this handsome guy was staring at the both of us. By this time the guy was laughing… I thought he looked cute when he laughed. After he was all cleaned up he asked me if I wanted another drink. I smiled and nodded. Going to a club was good to meet new and interesting people. I learned from him that his job is very stressful and he always finds himself coming to this club here once every few nights, after work to release some steam before he gets all worked up about work. I was starting to enjoy the conversation even more when I felt a sweaty hand on my shoulder. I turned around. My friend was looking at me and winking, like she was trying to hint that I should hook up with the guy I was talking to. She whined to me about how I shouldn't just sit there at the club talking and drinking when I can go dance to the music with her and the other girls we came with. I invited the handsome guy I had spilled my first vodka on to join us.

As I danced the heat had started to rise in the room. I could smell sweat from all over the dance floor. My legs became weary while I danced and thought about how smelly the room was. My head was starting to hurt from the ear-splitting music. Soon I was all worn-out and asked my friends to leave the night club. They were also exhausted themselves so we all decided to head back home and call it a night. My friends and I had exchanged our telephone numbers with the handsome guy whom I have met. I could not drive back because of the alcohol I had consumed in my body, so I handed the keys over to a non-drinking friend to take us safely home.
