One of the most important and difficult social problems the world faces today is the rapid increase in crime in our society. Citizens, social critics and politicians all seem to have their own theories of what is causing crime and what should be done about it. Unfortunately, many of these theories are superficial, simplistic and misguided. As a general rule, America is a society which tends to blame the individual. This means that when crime occurs, we assume that the offender is an inherently "bad" person committing a bad act. The general recommendation is that this person be punished, thrown in jail, executed, etc. In reality, however, this approach is highly unlikely to have a significant effect on crime. This is true because the individualistic perspective ignores the complex social factors, and one of the factors, and one of the most commonly ignored, is the issue of metropolitan inequality. In order to truly understand the causes and possible remedies of crime in America, we must approach the problem in terms of effective theories which address the socioeconomic realities of America's inner cities.

Ultimately, then, it is clear that metropolitan inequality is closely related to the problem of inner city violence. As Wilson points out, the lower classes in our country have long suffered from "chronic subordination" to the policies of the more powerful class. This dynamic has led to feelings of hopelessness and lack of opportunity. These feelings, in turn, have contributed to a rise in violent crime. Gordon's class conflict theory of class accumulation offers strong frameworks which illustrate the link between metropolitan inequality and rising crime rates. As the current dynamic continues to affect society, it is likely crime will only continue to rise in the future. The only way to truly avoid such outbursts is to somehow shift the dynamic so that the lower classes will gain some voice in the way our country is governed and the way the residents of inner cities are treated.

EDITH WHARTON'S INFLUENCES

New York City society was a major influence in Edith Wharton's life. The society discouraged her from achieving anything past a marriage. It required her to keep quiet and silent. These restrictions caused her to reveal her emotions through her work. The restrictions of New York created a repressive environment for Wharton in her early youth. Her world was made up of strict social codes and proper behavior, that if not followed could have major consequences. Most of Wharton's stories are about wealthy people, usually women, who challenged society much like Wharton did.

Wharton lived at a time when roles of women were very limited and guidelines were set for what was acceptable behavior and what was not. These guidelines were very strict and specific. The fear of not meeting the standards, along with an unhappy twenty-eight year marriage to Edward Wharton and the fact that writing novels was considered something more of a job than a knowledge or talent were just the inspirations that Wharton needed to make noticeable the imprisonment of women as well as her writing skills. Not only did she believe that these women were physically trapped within the four walls of their homes, but that they were also trapped psychologically by the circumstances of the social status as well as their gender.

Wharton was a severe critic of society. Her stories seemed to blame many problems on the rules for the wealthy. She was very harsh on men in her novels, and made them appear very weak in her stories. Even though she knew that men were the ones who had all the power in the real society, but no one escaped without being criticized in her stories.

Marriage, children and home keeping were to be the number one priorities of a woman's life, and Wharton was a master at showing how those images may be blessings for some women, but for others might have felt like a prison that took their spirits away from them.

You can see from some of her stories that Wharton tries to expose how some women are given and are told by society what they must have in their lives. Those things are family, home and security. These were all things that influenced her ideas and stories.

For Edith Wharton to question the political correctness of the times, it was not unexpected. She was not the only writer of her time period to question the attitudes of the twentieth century.

One of her most influential writers, Henry James, who was also one of her closest friends, was also involved in the same type of criticism writing. His friendship along with his guidance helped Ms. Wharton to develop her style. For Henry James and Edith Wharton, it gave them the opportunity to show exactly what was going on in their social structures, and also gave them the opportunity to present their talents.

In Edith Wharton's final story, she presents an image of a woman who is alone and widowed for years, but appears to be extremely happy and surviving at a comfortable level. This was her biggest inspiration, her own life. After divorcing her husband of twenty-eight years, Wharton never remarried, but the thought of remarrying never even crossed her mind. She was happy where she was and the people she was with. All of these gave her the inspiration to write all of the novels that she did.

Beauty A Manipulated Stage

Every culture gives many meanings to beauty. Although, beauty is defined as a delightful quality associated with such things as harmony of form or color, truthfulness, or originality; I believe that beauty is a perfect combination between an inherent quality and a social development constructed for many reasons. The first reason is an economic achievement; the second reason why beauty is a combination of these two factors is because it is a great power of self-esteem, and the last reason why beauty is a quality socially constructed is due to social success.

The first reason why beauty is a combination of an inherent quality and social effects is due to the importance that American society has given to the image of any human being. According to this issue, Henig says, "Since before Cleopatra's day, women have been judged by the way they look, and they have struggled mightily to make themselves look the way they want to be judged." (Atwan 6). Moreover, contemporary American culture has standards for beauty that exploit and create a wrong image of beauty using the women as an element to increase sells or marketing with the purpose of showing beauty as a power to succeed in an economic field .For example, the majority of advertisement in television, magazines or journals shows how attractive people enjoys life more than unattractive people by driving wonderful cars, getting better jobs, and having more opportunities in huge companies. Even though, women feel attracted to improve her image, they know that beauty is an inherent quality that they can have without a gorgeous physical appearance. For instance, a woman can be beautiful if she has qualities such as hard working, humble and intelligent. Help with essay on beauty a manipulated stage

The second reason is that beauty is a powerful and vital element to control the self-esteem is because people feel really content and satisfied with the way they look. When people have a high self-esteem believe that they are worthwhile and valuable. For example, they recognize the strengths and achievements of self and others. Also, people with high self-esteem are proactive, good losers, and optimistic about themselves, others and the world. Another effect when people feel comfortable with their appearance is the development of an image of having enthusiasm and being healthy. On the other hand, when people do not feel happy with their appearance, it creates negatives feelings as insecurity, nervousness and mental illness. For instance, people with low self-esteem believe that their worth is based on their accomplishments or the opinions of others. They are reactive, poor losers, and pessimistic about themselves. The basic issue in this point is that it does not matter what we do to our bodies if we do not change our psychological condition too. Therefore, beauty is and inherent quality that we should develop with a social construction.

Although economic achievement and develop of self-esteem are both vital reasons why beauty is a great combination between an inherent quality and a condition socially constructed, another important reason is that beauty is a key in social success in every culture. A feminist writer named Susan Faludi says, "The beauty standard converges with the social campaign against wayward women," (Atwain 6). However, the majority of people think that they can get better lifestyles, and they can receive social remuneration if they look more beautiful than others. Consequently, cosmetic surgery is increasing among American males. As well, according to surveys, "Females reveal a distorted and inferior body image far more commonly than do males."(Atwan 61).

The important thing is that people should think that beauty is not only an outside appearance, but also it is an inner stage to get a social succeed in this society. Beauty is a great quality that every person can expand to create a family and this way to get benefits of social success.

In brief, even though beauty always will change according to every culture and kind of society because is a manipulated stage, it is a combination between an inherent quality and a value socially constructed in order to get economic achievement, to develop self-esteem, and to have social success.

Please note that this sample paper on beauty a manipulated stage is for your review only. I Introduction

• Short story of waking up to the news of my favorite bar being bombed

• Give stats of total deaths since conflict began

• Thesis

Write your bombs research paper

Aside from the brief news clips that CNN covers once in a while, most people are unaware of how bad the situation really is in Israel. So from my own experiences and conducting my own research, I will explain just how badly terrorism affects Israelis on a daily basis. I'll be covering how and where terrorist activity occurs, the reasoning behind a terrorist, and finally what steps can be taken to prevent terrorism.

II How and Where Terrorist activity occurs

• Terrorist activity happens on just about a weekly basis in Israel

• Majority of attacks are suicide bombing

• Bombers attack public places to maximize civilian causalities

o Ex. Restaurants, hotels, busses, clubs, bars, etc..

• Explain type of bombs used

(transition Now that you know what a suicide bomber does, I'll explain just why they commit these acts of terrorism)

III Inside a suicide bomber's mind

• From a young age Palestinian kids are brought up to hate Jews

• most Palestinian families live in poverty, while the leadership have many palaces

• suicide bombers' families are paid by rich Arab leaders

• they are brainwashed to thinking they will go to heaven for their deeds

(transition You can see how part of the main problem of preventing suicide bombings is that since Palestinians are taught to hate Jews from such an early age, they are just about impossible to reason with, so Israel must come up with other ideas to stop the terror)

IV Preventative Measures

• Most effective preventative measure is increased security

o Ex. Guards at the entrance of most public places of business

o Road blocks at the entrances to Palestinian territories

• Proper education of the public to spot a terrorist

• Negotiate with Palestinian leadership to come to a cease fire

V Conclusion

• As you can see there is no simple solution to Israel's terrorist problems

• Hopefully this speech will give you a better understanding of what its like to live in a country plagued by terrorist attacks

• Thankfully, the terrorist attacks have finally slowed down in Israel, but there is still much work needed until the country will be at peace.

What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. Our staff of freelance writers includes over 120 experts proficient in Ann and John, therefore you can rest assured that your assignment will be handled by only top rated specialists. Order your Ann and John paper at affordable prices!

The marriage of Ann and John is not that strong. This stems from two differences in opinion. John believes that to please his wife he must work hard all day and pay the bills so she can eventually have all the nice things she wants. Ann, on the other hand, would like John to spend more time with her in stead of slaving away over the farm. Johns leaving for his father's house puts additional stress on the marriage. It is then that Ann has time to think about their relationship. The storm also contributes to Ann's feelings of loneliness and despair. The blame for their weak relationship falls on John for not paying enough attention to her.

John is a slow, unambitious man, content with his farm and cattle, and naively proud of Ann. We know this because the author tells us in the exposition. He is also very hard working. He demonstrates this quality by his unwillingness to take on a hired man. This might also be taken as John just being cheap and not wanting to pay another man for work. He is a very devoted husband to Ann. We know this because everything he does is for her, whether directly or indirectly. He works like a dog all day long to make money to pay off the mortgage so that in the future Ann can have all the nice things she wants. He also shows his love for her by coming back through the storm just to be with her. At the end when John catches Ann with Steven he isn't sure what to do. He finally decides to kill him self so Ann can be happy with the one she truly loves, Steven. John is an all around good guy.

At the beginning of the story we see that Ann is not happy with her life. We see this by her attitude towards John when he says that he will go to his father's house for the day. "Plenty to eat plenty of wood to keep me warm what more could a woman ask for?", this passage shows just how unhappy she is. She is also a very lonely woman. We know this because she tells John that she gets lonely when he leaves. It is this loneliness that drives her to commit adultery. Ann also feels that she is unimportant to John because he frequently leaves her alone in the house. Ann still wants to act like a young person. We see this when she is thinking to herself while John is gone. She thinks they should wait to pay off the mortgage for a while and do things now before they are to old to enjoy them. After Ann sleeps with John she feels really bad. She shows this by crying in bed after she commits the act. She realizes then that John is the only one for her, but by then John is dead.

Ann is the most to blame for everything that happened. It is true that John didn't pay much attention to her but Ann never told him how she felt so they had no chance of working it out. If she would have told him that she wanted to spend more time with him I'm sure John would have been happy to do so. She brings on her own depression by not telling him her true feelings. She is also to blame for John's suicide. It was her choice to sleep with Steven; John did not do anything to provoke it.Custom writing service can write essays on Ann and John

Racism

Introduction

According to ICERD (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) racism is defined as "Any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, color, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment, or exercise, on equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, or any other field of public life." Keeping this definition in mind, the following web site http//globalissues.org/HumanRights/Racism.asp gives us the details of racial discrimination in various countries, from Europe to the Middle East to Asia, including the tyranny of Adolph Hitler. Based on the region, the website is divided into segments. It is very concise in its approach at describing the events, which gives the reader a fair view of what to expect in the given segment.

Analysis on the Impact of Racism

Buy cheap Racism and Inequality term paper

Racism may not be practiced as openly today but still does exist in our day to day lives. A very simple example could be that of a shake hand. It is a show of confidence and respect to shake someone's hand firmly when you greet them. In some cases people would just tough their finger tips. I generally wonder if they shake hands like that with everyone or is it just that they have other issues running in their minds. What ever the reason, a sort of uncomfortable feeling crosses my mind. Often times, I have wondered if this is racism, and I am on the receiving end.

This is a very simple, and probably not a very strong example. This may be just my point of view. Nevertheless, there are other issues that are much more grievous and undesirable. A Bangladeshi community was bombed in London where seven people were injured. Such hatred is of no consequence. People should realize that human life is invaluable, once lost can never be replaced. Also, how can one human be the judge of others? No other human can think he/she is superior to the other just because of the color of their skin or ethnicity.

Thus, people who are "different" would definitely feel out of place in case they are treated disrespectfully.

Conclusion

The website describes the various events and occurrences in all parts of the world, thus covering global racism. This gives us a good overview of what is happening and where it's happening. The only difficulty is analyzing why it's happening and when it is all going to end. There may not be a direct solution for such a global problem. One approach could be that of awareness acquired through education. People should respect one another.

It is not enough to just preach about equality, it should be practiced and advocated. By adopting this policy, it would be possible to reach out to everyone.

The web site does a good job of capturing the various aspects of racism. It elaborates by giving hyperlinks all throughout the article without having the trouble of scrolling down the page to look up the references. Also, the author updates his home page which tells us that he is up to date with the latest happenings. His detailed analysis supported by newspaper articles and other links, gives us the authenticity of

Patriarchy Gets Funky

In the early ninties student bodies rallied against the social injustice that was occurring amongst their academic community. Riots arose over things that have now become part of a manipulative marketing scheme for corporate industries. Same sex issues, racism and sexism were a few of the many problems that these intellectuals were fighting against. Unfortunately "personal politics" consumed most activists, letting the real problem slip out of reach.

Initially trying to subvert the images that were being exhibited in magazines, television shows and advertisements seemed like the right thing to do. Eventually striving for a better social environment fell victim to it's own narcissism.Buy cheap Chapter Five Patriarchy Gets Funky term paper

Mainstream enemies didn't feel a threat towards these activist, they accepted them with open arms, dissected the occurrences and used them to their advantage.

Niche marketing strategies arose and schools of new cutting edge imagery were produced. If this was what the public wanted this was what the public was going to get. The changes that occurred after these demonstrations were not a result of a victoriously fought war of equality and justice, but a marketing scheme for more profit. This suppressed society was now subconsciously turned into a dominant group of consumers. The identity politics they once rallied for was now a feeding troth for advertisers. By trying to kill the monster of supremacy they made them stronger. Gays and lesbians became new ad campaigns. Feminists became logos on T shirts that were produced by young women in third world war countries for unreasonable wages, which in turn demeaned the basic principals of feminism. Selling atypical Diversity had become a full throttle sales pitch, and the western civilization was buying into it.

Consumed by the promises, colors and antics, the youth of today becomes the leading target market in this global promotion scheme. Because the youth is more culturally absorbed it makes it easier for marketers to advertise, not only through ads and commercialism but also through the youth, which affects direct family members. Hester Prynne's Battle

The seventeenth century is a time of punishment and death to those who do not conform to Puritan laws. The young, tall, and beautiful Hester Prynne lives in this intolerable culture in Boston, Massachusetts. In Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne battles society and revealed sin, and emerges as a capable, respectable woman.

In this novel Hawthorne sees Hester as a victim for several reasons. Hester is a victim to her youth because she lives in an age where she is forced to marry without love. In England, Hester's family is wealthy, but they lose their money, so her parents arrange for her to marry a scholar, Roger Chillingsworth. Hester is forced to marry this man so she will survive. She does not commit to him on her own accord. Chillingsworth marries the young and passionate Hester knowing she did not return his love. Roger admits she is unsuitable for him saying, " I a man of thought…what had I to do with youth and beauty like thine own! (Hawthorne 71). He knows he is not suited for the role of her husband, but selfishly he takes advantage of this situation.

Hester faces further adversity in Boston with Chillingworth's acts of stupidity, and her lover's weakness. Baym describes her situation by writing, "She was sent to Massachusetts in advance of her husband; he had decided to emigrate, not she" (64). Hester is a victim to Roger's stupidity because he sends his wife to the colony while he remains in Amsterdam. Chillingsworth fails to realize the colony is a dangerous place for anyone, especially a young woman. Also after falling in love with Dimmesdale, she suffers from his weakness because he is unprepared to be a husband or a father. Arthur does not have the strength to claim responsibility for Pearl, so he leaves all the blame for Hester. His decisions leave him with an enormous amount of grief, and a terrible burden for her to face alone.Order Custom Hester Prynne Analysis paper

Through Hester's dilemmas and her revealed sin she becomes a stronger person who lives through truth. Baym writes describing her, "So strong was Hester Prynne, with a woman's strength" (66). She learns from her sin, and she grows strong as a result of accepting her punishment. She fully acknowledges her sin, and boldly displays it to the world. Hester's salvation lies in truth because she embroiders her symbol with elaborateness, and she wears the scarlet A long after she could have removed it. Hester proclaims to Dimmesdale, "Truth was the one virtue which I might have held fast, and did hold fast, through all extremity" (Hawthorne 10). Even though Hester is a victim she turns herself into a woman who helps others, and is respected by them.

Should Israel be Muslim or Jewish?

That's a very interesting question, however I am unable to make this decision because I believe that neither of these two religions give those people the hope for the future that is found in the bible.

I feel the question that is more relevant is "How can a person (not a nation) know which religion is right?" The best way to do this is to consider seriously the following questions about religion.

1) On what are its teachings based? Are they from god or are they largely from men? The Bible says at Timothy 16, 17- All scriptures are inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

For Example the bible does not teach that the human soul is immortal, to the contrary the Bible says at Ecclesiastes 5 "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten".

) Consider whether it is making known the name of God.

Jesus said in prayer to god "I made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world"(John 176) Also Jesus declared "It is Jehovah your god you must worship and to him alone you must render sacred service"(Matt 410). Has your religion taught you that 'it is Jehovah you must worship'? Have you come to know the Person identified by that name-his purposes, his activities, his qualities-so that you can confidently draw close to him?

) Is it largely ritualistic or is it a way of life?

God strongly disapproves of religion that is merely formalism. (Isa. 115-17) True religion upholds the Bible's standard of morality and clean speech instead of weakly going along with popular trends. (1 Cor. 5-1; Eph. 5-5) Its members reflect the fruits of God's spirit in their lives. So, those who adhere to true worship can be identified because they sincerely endeavor to apply Bible standards in their lives not only at their places of meeting but in their family life, at their secular work, in school, and in recreation.

4) Do its members truly love one another?

Jesus said "By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you truly have love among yourselves." (John 15) Such love reaches across racial, social, and national boundaries drawing people together in genuine brotherhood. So strong is this love that it sets them apart as being truly different. When the nations go to war, who have enough love for their Christian brothers in other lands that they refuse to take up arms and kill them? That is what early Christians of the first Century did and is what true Christians continue to do today.

So in answer to the question, "Should Israel be Muslim or Jewish", I believe each person has the right to choose their own religion, because after all their everlasting future depends on it. The Bible is a precious gift from God. It is like a letter from a loving father to his children. It tells us the truth about God - who he is and what he stands for. It explains how to cope with problems and how to find true happiness. The Bible alone tells us what we must do to please God. Psalm 11-; Isaiah 4817, 18.

Two Fathers and Two Sons

In the two poems ¡°My Papa¡¯s Waltz¡± by Theodore Roethke (page 1) and ¡°Those Winter Sundays¡± by Robert Hayden (page ) father is the main character. Roethke¡¯s poem ¡°My Papa¡¯s Waltz¡± portrays the scene of a rough dance between father and son. The poem, ¡°Those Winter Sundays¡± is about the memory of a father rising up early on cold Sunday mornings to warm the rooms. Both poems portray a man¡¯s childhood memories with his father though in different styles.

The first poem ¡°My Papa¡¯s Waltz,¡± is in a conventional form which has four stanzas with each stanza consist of four lines. For example, in ¡°The whiskey on your breath/could make a small boy dizzy; /But I hung on like death/Such waltzing was not easy.¡± words ¡°breath¡±, ¡°death¡± and ¡°dizzy¡±, ¡°easy¡± rhyme, and so on in the following stanzas. Hayden¡¯s ¡°Those Winter Sundays¡± is written in the free verse style. ¡°Free verse is just what it says it is, poetry that is written without proper rules about form, rhythm, meter, etc.¡± (Free Verse Lesson 4) It is ¡°to create new rhythm-as the expression of new moods-and not to copy old rhythm.¡± (VI) Hayden showed his feeling with an image of father rising up early on Sunday morning, and warming the room for his family.

¡°Imagination can use the simplest diction, because it has got the truth found what can appeal to the right mind of man, because it is strong in life, thought and language. Rich poetic vocabulary is then unnecessary.¡±(50) both poems here have present clear pictures of their childhood. In ¡°My Papa¡¯s Waltz¡±, ¡°Whiskey¡± on father¡¯s breath is one of many clues that this is actually not real Waltz and ¡°his dance is more a romp through the house with a stop in the kitchen and another at the boy¡¯s bedroom, where presumably he is unceremoniously dumped into bed.¡±(Page 14) We can see the disapproval from mother¡¯s ¡°countenance¡± which ¡°could not unfrown itself¡±. But she does nothing to stop them, so we can imagine that they all enjoy this. ¡°Then you waltzed me off to bed/Still clinging to your shirt¡± such simple words leads us to the unconditional love of the small boy. While the ¡°Tactile images of heat and cold inform Hayden¡¯s ¡°Those Winter Sundays¡± in which the speaker¡¯s father wakes up early ¡°in the blue black cold¡± to make ¡°banked fires blaze.¡±¡± (Page 6) He does his duty silently, and tried to support his family. But ¡°no one ever thanked him¡±, and his home is still plagued by ¡°chronic angers¡±. What a touching image! The image in Hayden¡¯s poem is somewhat more ¡°cold¡±.Cheap Custom Essays on Two Fathers and Two Sons

¡°The tone of a poem, like the tone of our speech, implies the speaker¡¯s attitude(s) towards the poem¡¯s subject. The speaker¡¯s attitude can sometimes be subtly expressed, and we need to carefully study the poem¡¯s wording; rhythm and images to understand the tone.¡±(lyric.htm) so that¡¯s why I compare the tone in the end. There are different interpretations of the tone of ¡°My Papa¡¯s Waltz¡±; some critics have seen this boy¡¯s memories as a recollection of a time of abuse. In our text book, it is said that the tone of the poem seems nostalgic, though not sentimentally so. ¡°The boy, now a man, remembers his father as ¡°papa,¡± clearly an affectionate term. The high-spirited bouncing rhythm of the poem seems to counter any indication that the father¡¯s drinking or the son¡¯s fears are its central concerns.¡±(Page 14) On the other hand, Hayden¡¯s poem is filled with guilty. ¡°He regrets how unappreciative of his father he was as a child.¡±(Page ) Children often become so boiled and self-involved that they take for granted what their parents give to them. ¡°What did I know, what did I know/of love¡¯s austere and lonely offices?¡± There will be a time that we realize their sacrifices and it is often too late to realize.

In conclusion, ¡°My Papa¡¯s Waltz¡± presents a conventional form that uses humorous languages and ¡°drunken¡± images to present an unforgettable memory that a man ¡°danced¡± with his father. Hayden¡¯s ¡°Those Winter Sundays¡± is a free verse style poem that uses simple languages and tactile images to convey the melancholy memories that a man ¡°misinterpreted¡± his father. In each poem, different form, image and tone is used, but the theme of the complicated love between the son and the father is conveyed through both poems.

In the future I plan to be a nurse. My major right now is nursing. I want to become a nurse because I care about people. I don't like to see people in pain. My plan so far is to attend college and do the best I can to get into the nursing program. I have been told by many people that becoming a nurse isn't easy, but they haven't scared me away from pursuing my dream. In order for me to get in I have to have at least a B average or I will be turned down. I promise myself that I would do it and I will because I don't make empty promises. I believe that I can do it because I have many people in my family who are nurses if they can become a nurse then I have no doubt in my mind that I can also.

Once I am in the nursing program, I will try to do my best. After I complete college I will attend a nursing school. In the end I hope that I will become a registered nurse hopefully, I will get a job in a hospital or a nursing home. I haven't decided to do nursing for the money, so I will take a job anywhere that needs me, no matter what the pay is just as long as I can make a difference. Once I am settled in my job, I plan to continue my education. There are always advances in medicine so it's important that I am aware of it. If I have a lot of education and skill, then I'll always be able to get a job. My mother tells me that the farther I go in getting an education, the better my chances are for success and comfortable living.

I have been interested in medicine for as long as I can remember. I would watch all the television programs that have to do with medicine. The shows that I would watch were about things such as major surgery, birth, and emergency situations like a shooting or car accident. I always wondered what it would feel like to save a person's life. I wondered what it feels like to be those doctors and nurses. So when I become a nurse, I will finally know what it feels like. I first thought about becoming a nurse when I was watching a movie about a woman with cancer. I wanted so very much to help ease her pain. I watched how the doctor and the nurses looked after her and I knew that I could do the same.

Once I have been a nurse for a good long time, I am going to start my own business that will take care of individuals that aren't very fortunate. I plan to work on under privileged people; I have heard many stories of people not being treated because they do not have the means to pay. I don't believe that because someone doesn't have enough money, they don't deserve a chance to be healthy the same way as a person with money. I have seen programs about children that are very sick and they just need a little caring to get better, but their parents don't have much money so they can't afford to go to the doctor. I once watched a show about a woman who died when she only needed a special injection to keep her alive, but she couldn't because there wasn't any money left for her to receive the drug she needed. When I am a nurse I intend to work on people even if they don't have the money for medical attention.

My life plans are very important to me; it's has basically given me a reason for being here on earth. My purpose will be to give people caring and understanding. The lives of people will be in my hands and I hope that I will help make them live a long and healthy life. I will be very happy when I have succeeded in doing all I have planned. If I only end up being a nurse that is still an accomplishment in its own.

This book A Child Called "It" by David Pelzer is a survival book. David Pelzer, the child, in A Child Called "It" has some rough times with his mother.

In the beginning he has a normal family and his mother loves him but soon all of that changes when his mother starts to drink. When she changes, David's mother beats him & starves him. When David goes to school with no lunch, & when he comes to school in the morning he takes desserts and lunches from his classmates. When the principle finds out, he calls David's mother and when David gets home she beats him.

One time his mother made him sit in the bathroom with the door closed and has a bucket of ammonia & Clorox was in it and he had a hard time breathing. Another time, his mother tells him he's getting timed to do chores to get food and if he wasn't on time she would kill him. One day while he was doing the dishes and his father was at work he turned around and saw his mother with a knife in her hand and said he took too long and was past the time limit she had told him. It really scared him.

David's little brother was once on his mother's leg, so she tried to get him off and then she fainted. She fell forward and the knife cut a line on David's stomach. Everything went black, and when he woke up he saw that his mom was cleaning him up and that the cut was bleeding constantly. His mother was training to be a nurse before she met his father so David didn't worry. David's mother was nice to him hat day but it didn't last. The next day he woke up and it was mostly the same but the mother took it a bit easier on David.

David stopped believing in god for a while after his mother almost drowned him on Halloween. The rest of the book is more of the same, with David getting punished more and more and finally one day when David went to school his teacher had him sent up to the nurses office. Like usual he was sent up to get checked on bruises and cuts and every time, he had an excuse for them. Whenever the nurse found a couple new marks and she always wrote them down. Finally, on that day she told the principle and he called the police.

The policeman came around lunch-time and David was called to eat lunch in the teachers cafeteria. There was the policeman and the teachers, nurse and principle there. David told the policeman the story and the policeman took him to the police station and said he would call David's mother, David freaked out and said " No if you call her and tell her, when I get she will beat me." The police man said he wasn't going home. The teachers said good-bye to David. They called the mother to inform her and David was sent to an orphanage.

THE END……

This book A Child Called "It" by David Pelzer is, in my opinion a survival book. It was a hard story to read because of how David was treated by his own mom.

The first sentence really got my attention, and I thought this book was really good and was very sad. I think this book was great overall. If I were to grade this book I would give it an A+. I recommend this book to anyone older than 8.

Nonsmokers tend to think just that smokers should consider more about them, but they also should understand smokers.@ Some companies tried prohibiting their employees from smoking. Thanks to this attempt, the air in these companies became clean and nonsmokers were glad, though the number of smokers who left work to smoke increased. What do you think of this attempt? Is it indeed rational?

Some nonsmokers propose that smoking should be banned in all public places, because tobacco, especially secondhand smoke, is no good for our health. @Though I hate smoke and I know smoke sometimes causes cancer and asthma, I canft possibly assent to this proposal because about fifty percent of men and ten percent of women in Japan smoke. That is to say about thirty percent of the population is smoking. Most of them can release their stress by the grace of smoking and it is one of their pleasures, and furthermore, itfs one of their habits. Is there anything we should do before we contemplate how to forbid smoking?

In Japan, education of smoking harm has begun in elementary school since 18 and in junior high school since 184. This means people over thirty years old were never able to get a good education of tobacco. They were, rather, taught that smoking was cool, so smoking became one of their habits. It is easy for us to tell them that they should give up smoking but it is very difficult for them to do so though they know smoking is no good for their health. So the government should equip children with a good enough education of tobacco so as not to increase the number of smokers.

Certainly, recent smokersf manners are bad. For instance, some of them smoke without scruples while they are walking and therefore nonsmokers come to smoke unwillingly. Then they offer the plan like prohibition against smoking in all public places. However itfs too severe, so I suggest we make smoking rooms in all public places. Of course it is not open, but completely closed. Itfs better to put machines like air cleaners to separate smoke and clean air in the room.

Write my Essay on Let's Think about Coexistence of Smokers and Nonsmokers for me

Technology is improving day by day. Though these machines are expensive and not well known now, they will be cheaper in the future and it will be possible to put them in all public places. And it ought to be also possible that we invent cigarettes which do not emit harmful secondhand smoke. Affording to improve vending machines of tobacco, scientists should strive for creating something that is more useful to solve the problem of smoking harm.

Naturally, there are a variety of people in society and each of them has his or her own ideas. We have to have respect for each other to live together. We can say the case of tobacco problem is the same as it, canft we? Smokers and nonsmokers should understand each otherfs position and coexist. In fact, nonsmokers need smokersf cooperation for the sake of reducing the number of smokers. We often think only about our own position, so letfs take other positions into consideration. Then you can change tracks.

Throughout our lives we see many relationships get started up, and at the same time we witness the breaking up of these relationships. Trust, communication, equality, and respect become key factors essential to a relationship, positioned in your way of thought in ways like parents, school, church, TV, friends, self experience and more. Equality is the one thing that at times, voluntarily or not, gets pushed out of sight giving way to specific gender roles. More harmful than not, is how these inscribed roles can be the cause to end a relationship.

In the article "Who's Cheap?" Adair Lara speaks of how while women have the desire to be treated equally to men, they associate men as the ones responsible for taking care of the economical part of the relationship. Adair doesn't agree to this idea, and she goes through her reading showing and poising examples on how this is a double standard. At a time, I found myself involved in this false notion of being a gentleman, and sought for a high maintenance relationship, and a girl that would want me buying her whatever she wanted. This whole idea and belief was reorganized when I met a girl, a very independent girl.

Her name was Jalena, and before her I had never been asked out on a date, yet alone have a girl pay for my movie ticket, dinner tab, and have her also be the driver. Overcoming that initial uncomfortable feeling was an overwhelming feeling that fulfilled, and came over me. In the opposite sex situation, Adair has a "bracing encounter with her own values" (6) when her friend Danny tells her "As a woman, you are so genetically precious that you deserve

attention just because you grace the planet. So, of course, he should buy you drinks, He should also drive the car, open the door, ask you to dance, coax you to bed. And then when you feel properly pampered, you can let out that little whine about how he doesn't treat you as an equal." (6) Through this experience Adair should not completely disregard men of doing things for her, but at the same time consider taking part in these kinds of things for it would strengthen the relationship.

The "double standard" (5) of the male having to pay for everything surely is the mind set of many females, but you find yourself asking where did equality go running off to this time? This was exactly the case in a more resent relationship of mine; not that I now dread paying for a date, and thus why the relationship did not work, but when this double standard took its place in our relationship, it gradually ended it. Adair's Friend Skye "…broke up with her boyfriend because when they went to the movies he doled out M&Ms to her one at a time." (6) Sure, maybe he should have been giving her hand fills, or even giving them to her in her mouth. But I did not read of Skye ever giving him M&Ms, or doing any relative kind of favors for him.

So should the wellbeing of a relationship in the sense of equality be the responsibility of the male? I cohere with no, and as times change, and women seek equality amongst the world, a sense of equality amongst relationships should also be found. This has already been seen to take its toll amongst the newer generations, and it will not be long until it is seen as essential for a relationship, and the old ways become irrelevant.

So let me get this straight. Our new foreign policy should be one of the worlds isolationist policeman. You quote Mike Savages philosophy of border, language, culture which, I think you (or anyone) could agree is about as isolationist as one can get. On the other hand we support the factual evidence of the Iraqi/al queda threat presented by Sec. Powell today at the UN. Threat to who? Our border, language, and culture? Do we really feel threatened by Iraq? I dont. In my opinion, they are more dangerous to our position without a direct threat. This problem woud be easy with a smoking gun. There is no smoking gun. In fact, these are the exact words of the administration.

Unfortunately, the Bush administration has maeauvered themselves into a position where the war is inevitable. The war will come and we will win.

A war with Iraq is justified but NOT if you embrace the Savage philosophy of border, language, and culture. If we are the worlds policeman, lets say so, as the Romans did 500 years ago. If not, lets heed the advice of those outdated Founding Fathers, to avoid foreign entanglements.

My policy is thisCustom Essays on War With Iraq

(1) Iraq is NOT a direct threat to the US.

() If the US is attacked or directly threatened by Iraq, lets kick their ass.

() If the US is not attacked or directly threatened by Iraq, whats the big deal?

The problem now is, as mentioned above, that if we dont go to war we will be seen as lacking resolve. So the war will come. It will be a lop-sided military victory. Thats the easy part.

The connection to terrorism argument is a good one but in my mind it applies most to Saudi Arabia. There is tons of solid evidence to this effect. Indisputable evidence. That country eventually will be proven to be the biggest enemy of the United States. The majority of money and support for the /11 terrorists came from that nation. The majority of money and support for Osama bi ladin (and every other anti-American terrorist organization in the world) comes from that country. This is an indisputable fact. The administration has acknowldged it. Previous administrations has acknowloged it. Saudi Arabia is the heart and birthplace of Islam and the most fundementalist Muslim country in the world. Because they allow our military on their soil we kiss their ass. Its a humuliating insult to our country. If its about oil lets say it. If its not lets put them to the test. They are either for us or against us. When are they gonna prove it? If were gonna go it alone lets do it. Drop SA. Lets see who they run to. The fundementalists or the west? If were going settle things over there lets draw a line in the sand. Those Saudi assholes are the biggest problem in the region.

Were in a great position now. If we can just resist rushing into war without appearing pensive we will win the big victory in the long run. If you dont think public and world opinion is important during military action just remember Viet Nam.

How to Watch a Movie

One thing that you can safely say that almost everyone does is watch movies. People do it all the time, but do they do it right? Have you ever watched a movie, but didn't under stand it? Well, that may be because properly watching a movie is far more difficult than most people think.

The first thing you need to do is make sure that you are in a mind set that goes along with the movie you watch. It does not take much to alter one's mood, and it is very important to keep this in mind when choosing what type of movie to watch. If you are sad, it is best to choose some sort of drama or tear jerker; you wouldn't want to watch a comedy. If you're upset or angry at someone, an action movie or thriller might just do the trick. Two other ways people feel when trying to watch movies are tired and hyper, but it is definitely best to be neither. If you are tired you will most likely fall asleep, and being hyper can cause you to not pay attention. To watch a movie you must be in the perfect frame of mind.

The second step to properly watching a movie is getting rid of as many distractions as possible. This step is probably the most important because if a distraction is large enough it can ruin an entire movie. The best time to watch a movie is when you are by yourself. No one can ask you questions when they don't understand what's going on, make noises to distract you, or tell you what's going to happen if they have already seen the movie. Nothing is worse than really wanting to see a movie and then have someone tell you who dies in it or what happens at the end. Perhaps the most common distraction for movie watchers is the telephone. If you're someone who receives several telephone calls a day, you might want to call ahead and tell everyone not to disturb you or just take the phone off the hook, because it is a horrible feeling to be at the climax of a movie and then hear the telephone ring.Order custom research paper on How to watch a movie

Last but not least, it is very important to be able to maintain focus during a movie. Staring at a screen for two hours tends to make people somewhat tired, so you need something that you can unconsciously do while watching a movie. One of the best things for this is eating. Popcorn is a good idea, but try and stay away from chips or anything else that comes in a noisy bag or that you have to crunch; these two things make bad distractions. Another thought is sewing; some people who are good enough at it can do it without taking away any attention from the movie. Not hungry; can't sew? No problem. Even something as simple as chewing a stick of gum and blowing bubbles can keep you awake and focused. One bad idea, however, is drinking. Sooner or later you will have to get up and go to the bathroom, and it might be at a part of the movie that you don't want to miss.

So you see, movie watching is highly underestimated. If you've ever had trouble staying awake while watching a movie or understanding a movie, try these three simple techniques and you might be surprised.

Although Maupasant does not offer an explicit philosophy in his work, he portrays a consistent and honest vision. His is a grim, bleak, and pessimistic world in which human activity is futile and ultimately meaningless in a univers devoid of evidence of a merciful God. While he admired the courage and the generosity or spirit of certain individuals, although they almost never belonged to the middle or upper classes, he usually depicted the human spirit as defeated by darker instincts. Thus in Boule de suif, a prostitute and the middle-class travelers who accompany her in a coach are caught by invading Prussians. The prostitute alone has the patriotism to resist, and then the selfishness to succumb to the advances of a Prussian officer in order to save them all. Afterward, in the coach, her companions attitude toward her reverts to disdain.

A couple are invited to go to a ball. They are very poor and the wife does not want anyone to actually know how poor the couple is. The wife, decides to ask a friend if she can borrow her diamond necklace and her friend lets her. The ball went great except for the fact that the wife looses the necklace. The couple decides not to tell their friend about the necklace, buy a new one, and replaces it. The couple sinks into poverty paying for the exact replica for ten years only to discover later from the original owner that the borrowed necklace was a cheap imitation.

A Glimpse of A. E. Houseman'sWrite my Essay on A Glimpse of A. E. Houseman's"When I was one-and-twenty" for me

"When I was one-and-twenty"

In his poem When I was one-and-twenty A. E. Houseman sketches for us, in two lighthearted octaves that nevertheless carry somber and sad overtones, an emotional portrait of a flawed romantic who at "one-and-twenty" was a provincial youth refusing to heed any advice contrary to his own desire. Herein, Houseman paints with words a mixed picture, both that of a headless youth and a romantic (if not misbegotten) hero; and by such contrasts and use of literary symbols Houseman weaves for us the rueful themes of the fleetingness of love and the decay of youth, the heart of which characterizes much of his poetic work.

Ambling along to the time of an iambic, hexametric rising rhythm with a catchy extra beat on every other line, Houseman saunters along through the emotional reminiscences of an eternal voice of youth in an arrangement akin to song as much as to prose. We're obviously to take this poem and enjoy the sound of it, and the appeal to our emotions, more than to ponder over the intellectual aspects of it, though certainly they are there. There is an ironic argument between the alternate values of love and wealth in that the value of love is characterized by the comparison of the, "heart" (4) to precious, "pearls [and] rubies," (5) with the heart being held most sacred, and in comparison, precious gems worthy of nothing but being given away; yet, why would one feel obliged to give away one's wealth if it were not a concern of the heart? Trump! The, "wise" advice is trumped by the realization of it's own values. Indeed, it is as if the ironies of wisdom demand the learning of sacred truths by way of the very same experiences wisdom might have us forego. It causes one to wonder Is it wisdom that defines the value, or rather, the experience? Yet regardless of the intellectual aspect buried in Houseman's ditty, or perhaps in spite of it (where, in the end, our romantic is reminiscing, "'tis true,") the focus here is certainly not the intellect, but rather, the emotion.

Houseman's arrangement lends the poem both a certain air of nonchalance in its simple musical rhythm, and of complexity in its twisting rhyme scheme, complementing his intertwined themes of fleeting love and youths decay. The focus is invariably on love and youth where the thrice quoted, previously "one-and-twenty" (lines 1, 7 and ) romantic, now (in line 15) at "two-and-twenty" is sulking in lovelorn isolation. Houseman has merged youthful determination with the pain of heartbreak where before there had been, "No use to talk to [our romantic]," (8) because he (or she) could not listen to anything other than his/her heart, yet the price nevertheless, "[twas] paid with sighs aplenty and [his/her heart] sold for endless rue," (14). Finally, in the climax of this emotional rendition of yet, only, one rung on the ladder of wisdom, in the end (line 16), Houseman unites both into one nostalgic theme The pain and disillusionment of first heartbreak, "Oh, 'tis true,'tis true," and what a beautiful and sad song it is.

The United States was known to be a rather quiet country. Their motives were never meant to be harmful, as our leadership was our growing strength. The power we had to help other countries out when they needed was our contribution to show our potency. War, as we know it, has always tried to be avoided. Though one early Sunday morning, December 7th, 141 the citizens of Pearl Harbor were awaken by an unexpected blast of infamy that would last through their lives forever. It was a matter that they had no say in because it just happened in a click of a second. There has been controversy though, wondering whether or not war could have been avoid. Japan had been planning on their attack there for many months and finally went ahead and followed through with their plans. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was extremely detrimental to the United States military force and was an early turning point in World War II.

Before the attack, Japan had already been preparing for their messy fight against the United States. All obstacles were looked upon to makes sure that it was a flawless encounter. Just after war broke out in Europe, the plans took a bigger approach, as Germany and Italy informed Japan that they were on their sides through it all. During these couple of months before the actual event took place, the United States was suspicious of their small actions happening as Japan was growing. Observation of Pearl Harbor was a daily necessity to Japan. That included the talking through code to spy's in the United States; reading newspapers; listening to the radio and all other ways of contact of the status of the states. Once for example, a caller from a Tokyo newspaper called the Yomiuri Shinbun wanted to talk to a local Japanese dentist in Pearl Harbor. His name, the dentist was Dr. Motokazu Mori.

Tokyo asked about conditions in general about planes, searchlights, the weather, the number of sailors around…and about the flowers. 'Presently,' offered Dr. Mori, 'the flowers in bloom are fewest out of the whole year. However, the hibiscus and the poinsettia are in bloom now.' (Lord, 5)

Intelligence wondered about this call, for many different reasons but the main concern was why was a newspaper calling at an expensive rate to talk about plants, searchlights and sailors? It came to them that it was a spy. After that, the United States, more though Pearl Harbor was put on alert for anything suspicious to come into waters anywhere in the Pacific in a certain range off the coast of Hawaii. The United States during this time when talking and negotiations were still going on, wanted to cut off total exports of oil to Japan which some wonder, if they did, would it have made a difference, because they wouldn't have been able to actual make the attack without it. Though, because they had Italy and Germany on their side, most likely they would have found the oil to make the surprise attack. To Japan, it was a smile on their face because they knew the whole time that they would succeed, but to the United States, it was a face that a curious baby would make.
