Summary of First language acquisition

First language acquisition has a process in which a language is learned. The speed in which the language takes place is amazing. The first process is the basic requirements. The child must be able to receive and send sounds in a language. The infant should be able to make 'cooing' and 'babbling' noises. The interaction with others through language is a crucial requirement.

All normal children develop language at the same time which is part of the acquisition schedule. This is because all normal children have the same basis of development of motor skills. The infant learns his or her language acquisitions by the behavior of his or her caretakers in the home environment. Someone who spends a lot of time interacting with a child is called caretaker speech. Caretaker speech is a characterized by sentence structures and a lot of repetition. The more interaction with children changes and the child begins using more and more elaborate language.

The early stage of the 'cooing and babbling' is part of the three months pre-language stage. Theses sounds are part of the first recognizable sounds of consonants, as well as vowels. By six months the babbling sounds has recognizable syllable type sounds. Then at nine months you begin to recognize the intonation patterns of vowels and consonants combined. After the pre-language stages comes the one-word or holophrastic stage between twelve and eighteen months. This is because the child can use single terms uttered for everyday objects such as 'milk', 'cookie' and 'cup'. The term holophrastic is used when the child's single form acts a phrase or sentence. During this stage children use their limited vocabulary to refer to a large number of objects. When the child's vocabulary moves beyond fifty words he or she begins the two-word stage. This stage is seen around eighteen to twenty months. By the age of two, the child is capable of producing 00 or 400 distinct words, enabling the child to interact in 'entertaining' conversation and understanding with the principal caretaker. When the child reaches three, he or she has moved past a telegraphic speech by strings of lexical morphemes in phrases to a closer form of adult language. When the child starts learning more of the adult language it is not effective to correct how the child speaks. The child may start a process of overgeneralization. This is when the child starts adding s to form plurals or adding es to plural forms. It is critical to remember the child is working out how to use the language system while using it as means of communication.

Write my Essay on First Language Acquistion for me

After the age of three and when the child is entering kindergarten he or she has acquired enough language to community in his or her environment. The child though is still obtaining pieces of his or her native language through out his or her childhood. By the age of five, the child has completed the basic part of the language acquisition process.

The Vietnam War was the longest and most unpopular, un-official, war in which Americans ever fought. It lasted nearly 10 years, from approximately 16-17; no one knows the exact date of when it started. The Vietnam was fought by American soldiers on Vietnam grounds against Communism and its spread. Vietnam has split into two parts, South Vietnam and North Vietnam, creating internal war. That's when the U.S. decided to get involved and send in their troops. Many historians believe that America lost the war because of the Viet-Cons love and inspiration that they had to beat the U.S. troops. Instead the U.S. Army was fighting a war against itself. It corrupted itself with lies and deceit, it drowned its fears with drugs and it murdered its own in cold blood, resulting in the loss of the war.

It all started on August 4, 164, through the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. Allegedly North Vietnamese battle ships were attaching the U.S. warships in the Gulf. Later on it was discovered that Lyndon B. Johnson lied about the incident to the public in order to gain congressional approval for escalating the war, and in order to leave the U.S. troops in Vietnam. Many argue that he did this for the sense of pride. He didn't want to be the first U.S. President that lost a war. The reason however does not matter. "Later investigations revealed that the alleged second attack that led Johnson to submit his Tonkin Gulf resolution to congress never happened" (pg 17). This is when the lies within the government appeared creating a catalyst for the killing themselves. Lyndon B. Johnson lied to America losing the support of the public, followed by the support of the soldiers in the battle field. Soon enough chants like "Hey, Hey L.B.J. how many kids did you kill today?" (pg. 1) began springing up between the anti-war rallies as well as from overseas from the soldiers. The more Lyndon lost the support of his public, the more he lost the support of his soldiers creating chaos.

The soldiers started to feel regret and remorse for being in Vietnam, and most searched for ways to drown their sorrows. They would sit in the middle of their bases, fields and jungles as their bloodshot eyes starred at the blue sky, sweat pouring from every pore in their bodies. In studies it was revealed that 0% more soldiers experimented with drugs during Vietnam than at any other time in the military history. Weed, pot, or marijuana was the most common among the troops, but harder drugs were also available for only a couple of dollars for each fix. In one study the drug problems really started in 16. Around 8,000 troops were arrested for drug possession. In 170 11,058 drug cases were admitted out of which 1,146 included hard drugs. These drugs were; ecstasy, heroin cocaine, and well as all types of LSD's (A crystalline compound, C0H5NO, derived from lysergic acid and used as a powerful hallucinogenic drug). Within one year the numbers of hard drug cases grew up to 7,06. This meant that the depression was getting stronger. Drugs clouded the soldier's judgments pushing them to commit unlawful acts.Write my Essay on vietnam war for me

Fragging was a term used for an American who killed another American, usually a superior. The name "fragging" was acquired from a fragmation grenade that was used in the murder. Although most of the time the grenade was not used, it was during the first few times, getting its name. "During the years of 16 down to 17 we have a rise of fragging-that is, shooting or hand-granading your NCO (noncommissioned officer) or your officer who orders you out into the field", says a historian Terry Anderson of Texas A&M University. "The U.S. Army doesn't know exactly how many…officers were murdered. But they know at least 600 murdered, and they have another 1,400 that died mysteriously." These young men were placed in an alien environment, losing their hope more and more everyday they did anything to try and survive. They killed their commanding officers before battle to avoid it, and put out rewards for officers who just came out of blood thirsty battles, for revenge. "In the underground GI publication "GI" says 'a reward of 10,000 is offered for killing lieutenant colonel Welcon Honeycutt', shortly after the costly attack at Hamburgar Hill in 16" an army journalist published in 171.

I'm reading the Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. I'm really enjoying it. The first movie has been following the actual text very well. The first half of the book involved a lot of explaining, which made it a bit tiresome to read. Also, because I saw the movie before I had read the book, I keep on expecting things to happen as they did in the movie or as quickly as they did in the film. After finishing the first half of the first book, I understand the story a lot better. This newfound understanding makes the Lord of the Rings a very interesting story to both read and watch on screen. Right now, I'm reading the part where the nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring reach the southern mountains. They have endured harsh weather and fear ever since they set out. At this very moment, I want to finish the book as soon as possible so that I can start on the next book, the Two Towers. Even though the film isn't exactly like the book, the director's additions, subtractions, and alterations suit the story's cinematic form. My favorite character from the film is Legolas, the Elf. His character is so cute and slick! However, in the book, Legolas barely entered the storyline and he has yet to show his characteristics of slickness…

The existence of the Tree of Knowledge is in order to establish the order that God is God and human beings are not. While Adam and Eve are given charge over the Garden of Eden and given freedom to enjoy themselves, it would have been easy to start stop depending on God. Not eating of the forbidden tree served as a reminder that they were still in obedience to God.

Satan displays an extreme desire to be independent from God. Adam and Eve not eating of the forbidden fruit keeps them in check about who their master is and who they are subjugated to. This subjection to someone else is precisely what Satan cannot handle I 'sdained subjection" (ln. 50). This pride or refusal to depend on God - is his downfall "Till pride and worse ambition threw me down / Warring in Heav'n against Heav'n's matchless King" (ln. 40,41).

Satan even has a hard time believing that he was not self-begot. He does not even want to give someone else credit for his birth! He cannot stand the thought of owing something to someone. This attitude keeps him from accepting God's grace. Because grace is being given something that is undeserved, Satan's pride keeps him from being able to receive something he himself did not earn all on his own. He does not want a sense of dependence, even through gratitude "The debt immense of endless gratitude, / So burthensome still paying, still to owe" (ln. 5, 5).

In Christianity, to be saved, one must acknowledge his helplessness to save himself apart from God. There is nothing that a person can do to "earn his salvation." That is why one must receive grace something that is undeserved but given because God loves him. Everything thereafter is an act of dependence in the life of a Christian. Prayer is an ultimate act of dependence and submission to God's will ("Not my will but yours be done"). Everything is mindful of the fact that we are subjected to God. Without this step of admitting his utter helplessness to save himself, Satan cannot be saved by God "is there no place / Left for repentance, none for pardon left? / None left but by submission; and that word / Disdain forbids me, and my dread of shame..." (ln. 7-8).

I think that the Tree of Knowledge, more than a test of love for God, is better seen as God saying something like, "I am giving you, my creation, a paradise to live in and I am providing every means for you to be happy. True freedom is happiness, so I am giving that to you. But you have the choice to disobey and though this may be seen as a freedom, it is only going to lead to death and misery, which is not true freedom. I am giving you everything you need. So you are not being deprived by not eating of this one tree. It is there to remind you that you cannot do everything as if you are God. You must remember that you are not God. Only I am God. It is a picture of your submission to me, which is ultimately your happiness because that is the way you were created to be."

SUBJECT Josef Abrams

Engagement Issues and Conclusions

Facts Josef Abrams paid $0,000 during the year for his children to attend Jewish schools. Abrams deducted $18,000 on his tax return based on the argument that 60% of his children's instruction was religious and related to the contributions to the temple for conducting its religious functions. He did not deduct the 40% of tuition that was related to secular education. Abrams presented his argument according to the case in which the IRS allowed members of the Church of Scientology to deduct the portion of fees paid to the church that were related to religious education. According to Abrams, a disallowance would constitute unequal application of the law.

Issues Should Mr. Abrams be allowed to deduct the $18,000, or any, that he declares went towards religious functions?Buy Josef Abrams term paper

Authority Section 170 or the IRC defines charitable contributions and general rules that apply. Section 170 (c)()(B) defines a charitable contribution as "organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes."

Rev. Rul. 70-47, 170-1 CB 4. The ruling identifies "pew rents, building fund assessments, and periodic dues paid to a church (an organization described in section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 154) are all methods of making contributions to the church, and such payments are deductible as charitable contributions within the limitations set out in section 170 of the Code."

Hernandez v. Commissioner 40 U.S. 680 (18). The Supreme Court held on the record presented that payments for auditing to the Church of Scientology were not deductible as charitable contributions because they represented a quid pro quo. The payer was receiving goods or services in return for the payment. The taxpayer in Hernandez had argued that the disallowance of the auditing payments represented an impermissible failure by the IRS to consistently enforce Section 170, relying on various revenue rulings. However, the Supreme Court rejected this contention because the record therein did not support it.

Michael and Marla Sklar v. Commissioner, TC Memo. 000-118, 7 TCM 1815 The Court stated that the value of a gift may be excluded from gross income only if the gift proceeds from a "detached and disinterested generosity" or "out of affection, admiration, charity, or like impulses." However, the Court ruled against Sklar and disallowed the deduction. The payments were identified in the nature of tuition for petitioners children, a personal expense. The payments were mandatory for tuition and therefore not deductible.

Conclusions Josef Abrams should not be allowed to deduct the $18,000 on his tax return. The payments made by Abrams were not made out of detached and disinterested generosity or out of affection, admiration, charity, or like impulses. The payer was receiving goods or services in return for the payment as in Hernandez v. Commissioner. According to Section 170, the contributions must be exclusively for religious purposes and in this case it was not. Along the same lines as Michael and Marla Sklar v. Commissioner, the payments were mandatory as tuition and hence not deductible.

"A Rose for Emily" can be interpreted in many ways. Faulkner stresses that "A Rose for Emily" is a ghost story. On the other hand, the content of the story has lack of any fragment dedicated to a straight manifestation of ghost, therefore it is difficult to support Faulkner's opinion. In spite of it, the stories there are elements such as sense of times, few episodes, and supportive evidences for Faulkner's explanation.

Emily is an old lady who is very stubborn. Faulkner manages to show this through different events that happen in the story and how she reacts towards them. One of the events that happened was when Emily received a tax notice in the mail telling her that she has to pay her taxes. At this point in time, Colonial Sartoris had been dead and there was no recollection in the city files of what he had told her. Because she had refused to send any money to pay her taxes and Aldermen had shown up at her door to settle the situation. When he told her that she to pay her taxes, Emily simply said "I have no taxes in Jefferson."(Faulkner, 14) The gentleman continued insisting that she should pay her taxes. Emily believed she was right and continued to say "see Colonial Sartoris. I have no taxes in Jefferson."(Faulkner, 14) This is the first time Faulkner revealed how stubborn Emily could be. She told the Alderman to leave and that was the end of it. The second incident that showed Emily was stubborn was when she went to the pharmacy to buy some poison. "I want some poison. I want the best you have. I don't care what kind"(Faulkner, 145) This gave me the impression that she was a little crazy and that it was possible that she was dangerous.

Emily did many things that made her character seem stubborn and crazy. Miss Emily would manage to make herself disappear for a certain amount of time. This will cause people to talk because no one would know where she was or what she was doing. At the end of they story when the town people were walking around her house, they finally found out what caused her house to smell disgusting. It was Homer Baron. He was laid down on a bed that was on a locked room. This was when they knew that she was crazy because she murdered the only lover she ever had. People in this town like to gossip a lot about Miss Emily. When she went to the pharmacy to buy some poison, the town was convinced she was going to kill herself. When her father died, people called and dropped by the house to give Miss Emily their condolences. For three years, she told them that he was not dead, but alive. She refused for her father's body to be disposed.

The town thought she was crazy. One of the things they talked about was Miss Emily's servant that worked for her. They made racial comments about him. People started to complain to the judge about the smell. He was not able to make anything of it. One lady complained that Miss Emily smelled bad.

In conclusion Miss Emily was a very troubled person. All of the problems started the day her father died. In my opinion she couldn't cope with it. Throughout the story Emily did many things like paying her taxes, buying poison, and the death of her father. All of this made her character look like a ghost.
