It is hard to choose a single song that best describes every emotion I was ever been confronted with. I was not about to find a song that happened to be my favorite at the moment. Music is everything to me and Lifehouse's, "Everything" describes who I am and who I always will be.

The chorus is, "How can I stand here by you without being moved by you?" This line expresses my emotions for any person I have ever encountered. Whether you have been influenced by a person in a positive or negative way, you still have been "moved by them" in some way. Your personal actions are influenced by the people you meet.

One other aspect is the romantic outlook this song reflects. Any questions that I have regarding relationships always seem to be answered within the lyrics. The longing I have had and the love that I once shared with someone wonderful is expressed in these lyrics.

I believe that everyone should have that one song that touches you every time you hear it. Everything influential about love and life has been captured within this one piece. I will share this song with anyone who has ever loved and who has been immensely affected by another human being.

Why do you need an Escape Plan?

Everybody in your house needs to know how to get safely out of any room,

and where to meet outside.

If there is a fire, it will be very dark. The smoke will make it hard to seeDo my essay on Fire safety CHEAP !

and hard to breathe. It can be very scary and confusing.

You want everybody in your house to know where all the exits are and how

to get to them. You want to pick a single meeting place so you will know if

anyone is missing.

How do you create an Escape Plan?

Create a floorplan for each floor in your home showing all the exits and labeling all

the rooms. (Click on the sample floorplan to see an example.)

Draw arrows from each room to at least two different escape routes (outside doors

or windows). Make each escape route as short as possible.

Select a place outside the house where the whole family will meet if there is a fire.

It should be away from the house and it should be easy for everyone to get to

safely. (Small children or people who have difficulty walking should not have to

cross a busy street, for example.)

Study the plan with the whole family and make sure they understand where their

rooms are, where the exits are and the path they would take to an exit. Copy the plan and place a copy in each persons bedroom and a main room, such as the kitchen. Make sure that every person in the family is able to open each of the doors or windows he or she would use to escape.

How do you Exit your house in a fire?

The most important rule is to stay away from the smoke and fire. Bedroom doors

should be closed at night. That way fire cannot spread if it starts when you are

sleeping.

If you are in bed when you hear a smoke alarm or smell smoke, dont sit up or

stand up! Roll out of bed and stay low. Smoke rises so the air will be cleaner

near the floor.

Cover your nose and mouth with a cloth or towel, if you can. Crawl to the door,

reach up as high as you can and feel the door with the BACK of your hand. If it

is hot, you could burn the palm of your hand and that would make it hard to crawl.

If the door is cool, open it very slowly. If there is no smoke or fire, crawl out toward

an exit. Yell and bang on the wall as you go to warn other family members.

Continue crawling (stay away from smoke and flames) until you reach a safe exit.

Then run or walk quickly to a neighbors house and ask them to call the fire

department. Or make sure that someone has called 11. Then go to the meeting

place the family selected.

NEVER go back into the house for any reason. Tell firefighters if a person

or pet is missing.

What if you're trapped in your house?

You crawl to the door, reach up high and touch the door with the back of

your hand.

The door is hot! What do you do now?

Do NOT open the door. If the door is hot that means smoke and fire is on the

other side. Find a towel, blanket or sheet to shove under the door to keep smoke

out of the room. If you have water, wet the towel or blanket before you put it

under the door.

Crawl back to a window. Open it or break it with a heavy object (cover your face

and eyes). Signal with a cloth and yell so firefighters know where you are located.

If the window is very close to the ground (5 feet or less) climb out and get away

from the building.

Practice, Practice, Practice

ICT in society essay question

In this essay I shall try to explain the role of i.c.t used in society e.g. how i.c.t has changed society and industry over the last 0 years, and how it is used in employment, leisure etc, and what rights we have under the data protection act.

In the early days of i.c.t it was mainly used for basic typing and programming but since then technology is upgrading and is never stopping!! Computers keep upgrading and their specs are always increasing to create superior computers, their many uses now include communication, word processing gaming, shopping(via internet). Mainly today we used it in almost everything we do however it is used in production and manufacturing, used by all companies of every different size, and even in sports such as football and other types of small areas such as this. For my essay I shall prove my point by showing how in a particular field ICT is used today, this is to show ICT is used in almost everything today.

Firstly I shall discuss how ICT is used in personal communication to put across my point of viewBuy custom Benji term paper

The Internet

· People have a wide range of products and services to choose from

· They have access to businesses all over the world

· They can buy products on-line easily and have access to a range of internet only special officers

Mobile phones

· Contacting people on the move

· Personal security, including alerting emergency services

· The cost and ease of keeping in touch with others

· The use of WAP technology to access the Internet

· Disadvantages of mobile phone use - eg high tariffs, overuse, nuisance of using phones in public

Entertainment and leisure

· The range of technologies available eg DVD, CD ROM, Minidisk, MP

· How the development of ICT is affected by the consumers changing needs and tastes - for example, more realistic computer games

Education and lifelong learning

· Access opportunities for people from varied locations

· The range of learning opportunities available

· Access to up to date and comprehensive research materials

These bullet points all show the way in which IT affects our personal/communication.

You could also see how ICT affects those with special or particular needs

· sensory impairment

· physical disability

· limited mobility

· learning difficulties

· language difficulties

· multiple disabilities

You will also see here how ICT can enable people with special/particular needs to access and exchange information and carry out transactions, using standard technology, such as

· Vibrate alert telephones and pagers

· Video conferencing

· SMS

· Online shopping

You will investigate what specially-adapted ICT hardware and software is available, such as

· Incoming speech amplifiers and induction loops

· Speech synthesisers and voice recognition systems

· Environmental control systems

The changes that ICT brings to this group in society mirrors changes that the industry brings to other user groups, such as schools and colleges, rural groups, and official agencies. Which can affect the current situation that we are in at the moment with means of prejudice etc, and ICT can help prevent this enabling people from all walks of life to do several different things.

Now I will try to discuss one area in particular to try and in depthen the role of ICT even more

I have made changes to the paper in red font. Comments for you will be enclosed in []. They are not to appear in your final paper. Unchanged text within the [] may also be removed.

Eudora Welty invokes powerful symbolism in her short story "Livvie." She expresses life and death symbolically through her characters and through the settings in which they interact. Welty also gives Solomon a characterization of being a deity a god that is all knowing and is in control of his world. His strict, dominating reign keeps Livvie in his power until the end.

Life and death symbols are encountered repeatedly in this short story. The title, "Livvie," indicates the vibrant life of the protagonist, Livvie. She is a youth for "she was sixteen and only a girl, then… while nine years went by … and she was still young." The story [remove "in"] takes place in the spring and everything there offers a sense of newness. The "snow white curtains," white is a color for purity and freshness, the "spring winds", and even Cash in his "springy steps" inform the reader that life is in the air. It also gives foreshadowing of what is to come, the birth a new beginning. As the reader "nears the end of the story, it becomes apparent that Easter is coming, which is significant of rebirth. Cash indicates the coming holiday when he exclaims, "I ready for Easter!" In contrast to spring and Livvie's youth is Solomon in his representation of winter and death. One of the lines that establishes this distinction is "if she is choosing winter, would she pine for spring." In addition, "a lace bed spread belonged on the bed" yet he slept under a quilt "what Solomon's mother made." The quilt is a representation of winter, cold, and death and also a longing for his mother as his days grow short. Moreover, Solomon's name implies the role he plays in the story

Exercise That eye, the sky

1. Briefly explain the process by which Henry has apparently come to be part of the Flack family ("my new dad")

'Seeyaz.' That's Dad going. He revs the ute up. He's in a hurry, going to town for Mr Cherry.

'Wave him off, Ort,' Mum says to me. She always reckons you should show people you love them when they go away because you might never see them again. They might die. The world might end. But Dad's only going to town for an hour. It's business for Mr Cherry. And there he goes, out the drive and onto the road.Do my essay on That Eye, the sky by Tim Winton CHEAP !

(Chapter One, Pg. )

Henry Warburton comes to be part of the Flack family after Sam Flack is involved in a horrific car accident, in which his ute crashes into a tree. The accident leaves him in intensive care in a coma for several weeks. One morning (after Sam has returned home to be cared for by his family) while Alice, Ort and Tegwyn are eating breakfast, there is a knock at the front door. When Ort answers, there is Henry. Henry explains to Ort and Alice that he has been sent to help the family care for Sam. Alice is both confused and concerned as to who has sent Henry, but after a while she agrees to let him stay and help.

. Has Ort really accepted Henry as a replacement for Sam?

After Sam's accident, when Henry comes to help the Flack's, Ort is at first suspicious of Henry's intentions. "He's big, tall. Wide hands. He could do with a wash." Ort often wonders why Henry has come to them and how he knows so much about them, and what is in the little black book Henry carries with him.

However, Ort starts to warm to Henry once they play a game of French cricket and Henry tells Ort a few stories. Stories and someone to play games with have been two things that have been lacking in Ort's life since Sam's accident and his fight with his best friend Fat Cherry. Sam would always play songs on his guitar and tell stories, play games with him and teach him things the way a father does. Although Henry plays a few games with Ort and tells him stories, the reader gets the impression that Ort has started to accept Henry as a father figure, but he does not view him as a replacement for Sam.

. What is the significance of the "strange words" Ort hears Henry saying while he is bathing Sam and his prayers while suffering the epileptic fit?

Henry is continually praying for Sam and is by no means a perfect soul, he has a life time of experiences and not many of them have been good. These bad experiences have lead Henry to seek salvation through good deeds, and he feels that if he can heal Sam he in turn will be healed.

The significance of the language or "strange words" Ort often hears Henry saying is that they relate to Henry's spiritual side. Henry is not only praying for Sam but also himself. Through this, Winton shows that Henry is continually expecting a miracle, and when one does not happen Henry starts to lose faith. At this point Henry takes himself for a walk and a swim in the bush, where he suffers an epileptic fit while asking God to help him, help the Flack's to love him and in turn for he to love the Flack's.

4. When Henry says "I hide and you see" (p.8), Ort at first thinks Henry must be referring to him. What is Winton suggesting about the connection between Ort's habit of watching over people and God's watching?

Through this passage Winton suggests to the reader that the connection between Ort's habit of watching over people and God's watching is very close. Winton communicates this connection to the reader in a few different ways throughout the novel. The title That eye, the sky and moments such as when Ort notices the glowing cloud that seems to always hover over the Flack family home at night, convey to the reader the presence of a spiritual force that is constantly watching over the Flack family.

While this cloud appears to watch over the Flack's, Ort also uses the holes and cracks in the walls that his home is full of to watch his family. Some readers may also take the point of view that Henry has been sent to watch over the Flack family by God and is a type of spiritual force himself.

SHE TALKS TO THE ANGELS

Bundled in pink, she resembles a tiny flesh-made toy.

Subtle wiggling; a toothless smile, she drools with joy.

She rehearses sounds; a feeble attempt to silence annoy.Custom Essays on she talks to angels

A few months behind her, still, her whole life to enjoy

The others wonder what words her noises employ,

But I already know, she talks to the angels.

When diapers were gone, and bottles bid adieu

Backpacks, pony-tails, jump ropes and Elmer's glue

Started her new life of school, the same as all kids do

Mom muttered when she vanished behind doors of blue

Mom won't say who she was talking to, but I already knew.

She was talking, talking to the angels.

Time faded and she traded in her jeans and sweatshirt of gray

For a wedding gown, and veil and beautiful bouquet

And while the music softly played she knelt, and she prayed

The minister read to them, from the Bible on that, her wedding day

And though from me she kept the words she prayed

I know she thanked the angels for sending him her way.

When the first child of her own from the hospital was brought

She loved her, held and kissed her, and without any thought

She gave her, her own special gift. A gift that can't be taught

But is given through love. That gift was the freedom of thought

That allows both young and old alike to pray when distraught

And talk to the angels, and talk to them a lot.

And that was her life, and I knew I would see

The day that would come when even for me

She would talk to the angels, and ask them to please

Remove the fatal disease, and bring healing to me

But she had already taught me, also, to pray as I pleased,

So when I talked to the angels,

…they released me,

……to be finally free.

So now from Heaven from where I can see

She is still talking to angels and guess what…

she still talks to me!

Land Use Conflicts In The Lake District

Throughout the Lake District, there are three primary arguments concerning land use, these are as follows;

• Tourists versus Residents

• Tourists versus TouristsCheap Custom Essays on Land Use Conflicts In The Lake District

• Tourists versus Farmers

From the above information we can conclude that tourists are obviously not the most popular in the Lake District.

The Residents have good reason to argue with the tourists, during the holiday season, and during bank holidays, incoming and outgoing tourist traffic to popular areas known as honey-pots causes traffic congestion on the narrow, long, winding Lake District roads. This congestion not only aggravates the locals, but can also lead to the delay of emergency service vehicles (i.e. Ambulances, Police Cars). These honey-pots are so popular that many tourist-style shops are set up in the area, so much so in some areas, for example Grasmere, that the tourist shops (4) far outnumber the convenience shops that are useful for the locals (1). Also, some returning tourists buy houses in the area, recent statistics show that roughly one in six houses in the area are now either holiday homes or second homes. Because people who own these homes don't stay there for the majority of the year, and don't use local facilities like the library, bus stops, and the local shop, thus many services close down due to low usage. This causes some residents to travel further to school etc, aggravating them even more, and causing some to move away, escalating the problem further. Because of these second homes/holiday homes, house prices in the area rise dramatically, which mean that many local residents may not be able to afford house prices in the area.

Tourists also cause problems among fellow tourists, for instance, tourists who enjoy more sombre recreational activities, like fishing, walking etc may not get along too well with tourists who crave more exciting pastimes, examples being water-skiing and motor boating, making too much noise for those who just want to escape the urban crowdedness.

Also, some tourists destroy or damage the scenery or features that other tourist are wanting to see or use, for example eroding of hillsides or simply the sheer number of people in the area.

The final land use conflict is that of tourists versus farmers, which is as follows. Many tourists that visit the area wish to explore the various hills of the area, some of them leave the gates of farmers land open. This annoys farmers to no end, as it can lead to animals wandering through the gates into areas they're not supposed to be. This is an example of tourists not obeying the country code. Also, some visitors drop litter, which not only makes the landscape look untidy, but some animals can swallow this litter, causing them to choke and in some cases die. Another reason for farmers being annoyed at tourists is that of footpath erosion, this is when tourists trample hillside vegetation leaving a 'path' of bare soil, which is washed away frequently when it rains, footpath erosion is also caused by mountain bikers, horse riders and off-road vehicles.
