Mary Ann hated doctors in fact; she really didn't like anyone at all. She preferred to be alone in her own house doing whatever she wanted and no one bossing her around. Mary Ann got dressed in a red outfit not even bothering to comb her hair. It's not like she cared about what other people thought about her anyway.

She stomped out the door not wanting to go to the doctor's office so early in the morning. What could they possibly want from her now she thought to herself. As she stepped into her old 176 Mercedes Benz, she realized she had forgotten her driver's license and her keys. "Darn it," she grumbled under her breath. She waddled back into her house searching all over. "Could it be under those papers on the kitchen counter?" "No, but looky here it's my lucky sock I've been looking for months!" she announced as she scrambled throughout the whole house making it messier than it was before. Eventually she found her keys in the bathroom.

Mary Ann decided to leave without her license. She figured that she'd never gotten pulled over by the cops before so it was unlikely that today would be any different. Now she was late. Mary Ann stepped on the gas and sped down a small street and passed a stop sign. Just her luck a cop happened to be sitting in that corner spotting her. He put the siren on chasing her down the street. She stopped and watched as the police officer strolled to her window.

"Ma'am you do realize you didn't stop at that last stop sign back there?" the man questioned.Do my essay on Mary Ann CHEAP !

Mary Ann argued back at him, "Yea I ain't no dummy sir, but ya see I'm in a hugely big hurry and I just don't gots the time to stop at your little good for nothing stop signs."

"Well, you better have the time to pay this ticket for breaking the law, and those little good for nothing signs have saved many lives around here," the police officer replied back.

"Whatever," Mary Ann snipped. She always had to get the last word in, but the officer had already started walking away.

Mary Ann finally arrived at the doctor's office and in a bad mood too. The nurse had directed her to Dr. Ford's room. Mary Ann plopped her self in the doctor's chair.

"Why hello and how are you today my lovely?" Dr. Ford cheerfully asked. "Well, I can tell you haven't had the best day yet by that expression on your face, plus you are holding a ticket in your hand," he added.

"Well aren't you the most brilliant man in the world?" Mary Ann responded sarcastically.

"I'm afraid that this news I'm about to tell you isn't going to make your day any better," Dr. Ford remarked suddenly in a sad voice.

"Great, just what do I gots to do just tell me do I need one of those dang shots again?" yelled Mary Ann.

"No it's much more serious than that. When we took your x-rays the other day there was a slight problem we noticed. Since you smoke you have caused to make holes in your lungs."

Mary Ann was silent and suddenly eager to listen to what he was going to say next.

Dr. Ford continued, "You have two choices, you can either have me do some surgery where I can install a voice box in your throat and you will still only be 100% healthy for 5 years. Or if we don't get rid of the black spots you can stay as you are for about a year and then your lungs will collapse."

Mary Ann had no money. She sat there thinking about what she was going to do. On one end she thought there was no point to live. She had no family, no pets, and never found love or a friendship. Yet, on the other end she was scared of the thought of dieing. She felt that it wasn't quite her time to leave this earth. Mary Ann sat there in the doctor's office, her mouth open wide staring at one object and never blinking. It was as if she had seen a ghost. Her life was in her very own hands now. Something she had never experienced before.

Black Men in Public Places by Brent Staples, is a narrative story about the mishaps a young African-American man had to encounter in Chicago, as a new graduate student at the University of Chicago, and in New York City, in the late 70's and early 80's. Brent Staples tells us how other people mistook him by a criminal many times in public places just because of his appearance. The short stories that he mentions in his essay explain how he was scaring people, especially young women, just with his mere presence, in the streets, at a store or in a train. The fact of the matter is, that he was probably more scared than they ever were, since even as a child he parted himself away from "criminal behavior", so common in his childhood neighborhood. However, because none of these actions towards Mr. Staples was personal, he understood very well why others acted in that manner. The danger that he represented was not part of their imagination, it had a, not just, but understandable explanation. According to Mr. Staples, he never blamed anybody for the way they behaved in such way towards him, since statistically, even today, is more common for African-Americans to commit more of these types of crimes. This means that Mr. Staples knew that these people were mistaken for being scared of him particularly since he was not a criminal, but maybe next time they should be scared of another African-American man. Mr. Staples grew to understand the reasons why people would cross the street instead of passing him on the sidewalk, for example. He also understood that this kind of behavior of others was not at all his fault. Mr. Staples remembers when he was growing up how he witnessed very young black men (friends and family), make countless terrible mistakes, which cost them their freedom, and even worse, their lives.

According to the essay, Mr. Staples believes that all the unspoken wrong accusations he had to face in his youth and throughout his lifetime, were in fact a product of past wrong doings by others. These kinds of situations were unpredictable, unplanned and unpleasant for everybody involved, including him. Nevertheless, he understood them. The essay seems to explain how in some ironic way, Mr. Staples almost agreed with these accusations. In addition, if he had been the young woman of his story, he probably would have done the same thing she did, trying to walk faster and disappear at the corner. Learning how to stay calm and relaxed was just a small lesson that he had to learn in order to maintain reasonable.

The most important and significant point of this essay, is not that Mr. Staples was treated, and still is, unfairly and rudely, thru no fault of his own. Instead, that he learned how to cope with what the world is because of its history unfair and rude. Instead of being unfair and rude himself, or getting completely angry, losing his temper, and bringing himself to act the same way others before him acted. Mr. Staples learned how to change uncomfortable situations, such as the ones he mentions in his essay. He had to learn that people at public places were going to be scared and uncomfortable with him, especially late at night in a deserted street corner. But by understanding why people acted in the manner they acted with him, Mr. Staples found that there are ways of altering unconscious behavior of others. Mr. Staples found that there are ways of changing these unpleasant situations into comfortable, nothing out of the ordinary, memories.

Therefore, instead of making things worse for everybody, Mr. Staples took a different approach. By recognizing these types of situations, taking small precautions, and avoiding, if possible, the type of situations that trigger the almost inevitable behavior of others towards him. Mr. Staples learned how to put scared people in public places, at ease

ACTIVITY

Put as many bird-safe toys in the cage without cluttering, to provide mental and physical stimulation. Offer purchased toys or such homemade toys as rawhide, empty paper rolls, or clothespins without the spring.

Locate the cage in an active, safe area (the kitchen may have dangerous fumes). Allow plenty of time out of the cage for flight or play. You can buy or build a play-gym covered in toys and climbing branches to give the parrot independent, supervised safe playtime.

HOUSINGBuy cheap how to protect your birds term paper

Never allow a pet bird unsupervised flight time around the house. It could become poisoned, drowned, electrocuted, slammed, or attacked by a dog or cat. For its safety, a bird needs to stay in a cage when you are not around. Buy the largest one you can afford that is practical. Minimum size at least twice the wingspan wide, twice to three times the height. For smaller birds it needs to be much wider in proportion than in larger birds. Make sure you bird has some supervised time out every day.

Only put paper on the bottom of the cage. Use newspaper (black and white), paper towels, wax paper or paper grocery bags. Corncob, shavings, sand, or kitty litter can cause impactions, and the dust can carry fungus spores and infect the respiratory system. You can also monitor changes in the droppings much easier with paper.

Perches of many shapes and sizes will give foot exercise. Do not use sandpaper covers, they are very irritating to the feet. Perches made of terra cotta or cement can help keep nails dulled. Safe branches include dogwood, sugar maple, manzanita, willow, or beech. Most cages only need a few perches, up high.

Largest cage practical

Pellets and other food

Perches of various sizes

Water and multiple food dishes

Bird-safe toys and swings

Cuttlebone or mineral block

Paper for bottom of cage

Powdered vitamins

Caution with non-stick cookware

Physical examination

As wonderful as cockatiels are to live with, they do have one drawback, NIGHT FRIGHTS! From our experience, I dont believe they waken due to a nightmare. Im convinced most are caused by something in the environment startling a sleeping bird. The bird awakens in a panic, trying to flee. It becomes more frightened as it bangs into toys and perches. It is unable to see well enough in the dark to realize it is safe. Night frights are more frequent with more bird.

Help! My bird has dandruff!

There are things that new cockatiel owners may mistake for dandruff. One is the feather sheathes that cover the growing pinfeathers and flake off as the feather matures. Tame birds appreciate it if their humans gently preen these away in areas the bird can't reach such as the back of the head and neck. Be gentle, a pinfeather that is still growing is sensitive. Your bird will let you know in no uncertain terms that you've done something wrong in you hit one of these. Don't be intimidated though -- paired birds scold their mates just as violently when they make a preening error then immediately beg for more preening.

The other dandruff in cockatiels is the powder down. Powder down comes from special feathers that are designed to disintegrate into a fine dust which cockatiels, cockatoos, and African greys use to waterproof and condition their feathers. These birds are always rather dusty and the powder will get all over your belongings. Daily misting with plain water will help keep this at a bearable level. In extreme cases an air cleaner is helpful. Don't use the feather conditioning sprays -- nature never intended a cockatiel to have oil on its feathers. A cockatiel in good feather condition will have a soft gloss, not a hard shine.

When I was eight years old, one night, I made rice, eggs, and cucumber soup and peeled and cut some fruit and had the table set with "dinner" for my parents. "Look Mom! I made you dinner!" I excitedly told her. I remember she walked over and hesitantly tasted a few things, and then saying loudly, "This doesn't taste right! This plate shouldn't be here!" She criticized my cooking and performance so badly I decided hated cooking. Since then, I've told myself I can't cook and I've never tried to either.

In fifth grade when I took a test, I got my first "conscious" C letter grade. I say "conscious" because before then, it didn't matterI had A's and B's and C's equally and that seemed fine. But that school year (and for many school years following), C's and anything lower were not allowed. While B's were "ok," it was still looked down uponthe way my dad would look at me, nose wrinkled and disappointed. I cried about the "C-" in red at the top of my test that day. While I didn't have to show my parents the grade, I was guiltyI was an accomplished failure. My parent's expectations for me were too much and I didn't know whether I could accomplish them, or mines, so, I decided unconsciously from the beginning to fail.

The summer before my senior year in high school, my history teacher, who also happens to teach AP Government, gave me the textbook for the class (AP Government) to read over the summer. He gave it to me because I asked him to. I wanted to pass the class and I knew that since I would be taking other AP courses as well, I would need some extra time to familiarize myself with the course and perhaps get a head start. But, that summer, I never once looked into the book. It collected dust on my desk, while I hung out with friends when perhaps I should've been studying. Well, when school started, I ended up pretty much nearly failing the class that first semester and having to transfer to a regular Government class, just so I could graduateand even the, I barely missed the mark of being held back.

I didn't plan to attend City College. I wanted to attend a University; I wanted to get my Bachelor's degree. But, I felt discouraged and never tried to and the idea of a Bachelor's degree dissolved into an Associate's degree. I figured I was just going to end up married with children and that a quick and easy degree was the thing for meincase I got a deadbeat husband and I had to support the kids and myself on my own. My teacher convinced me to attend City College to transfer to a University and graduate with a BAwhich I had previously thought would not be possible after nearly failing to graduate from high school. My teacher believed in me. I wish I had as much faith in me as she did. And I wished that my parents would show me some faith.Do my essay on Psychology Experience CHEAP !

Prior to reading this article, I suspected self-defeating behavior was my problem, but I was in denial about it. I think I can't cook because my mother criticized my cooking, so, it was easier for me to convince myself that I couldn't than to try to cook and have my fragile self-esteem perhaps placed where everyone else can criticize. This is also the reason why in fifth grade, I unconsciously decided to fail in life. My problem is passive self-defeating and a high anxiety of failing. I did that with my AP Government class and my whole college career as well; I cheated myself out of going to a University just in case I should fail. So, I took the spring semester off this year, and I decided to start "fresh" this summer. I don't know why I decided to take psychology , but I'm glad I did. It's probably the best class to start off on.

Wicked, sinful, evil, immoral, bad, naughty, these words are synonyms for the word iniquitous. The word iniquitous is one that best describes a few of the characters in the short stories that we have read. Through out this essay I will attempt to look out the state of iniquity of certain characters within the article. First I will analyze what makes a person, or in this case a character, iniquitous. Second I will discuss how did being iniquitous break the bounds of decency within their communities.

In order to truly understand why a person can be iniquitous you must first address their motivation for wanting to be such a person. As we will see their can be common factor amongst the characters who choose to be iniquitous. In the cases of Lazarus Morell and Arthur Orton their motivation is pure money and greed. They are not the people they are because its fun, but rather because it is profitable. According to the article "on broken down farms, on the outskirts of the cities, in dense fields of sugarcane, and on abject mud flats lived the poor whites; they were fishermen, sometimes hunters, horse thieves. They would sometimes even beg pieces of stolen food from the negroes. And yet in their prostration they held one point of pride-their blood, untainted by the cross color and unmixed. Lazarus Morell was one of these men." Also within the article it states "the birth register in Wapping calls him Arthur Orton, and gives the date of his birth as June 7, 184. we know that he was the son of a butcher, that his childhood was spent in the gray meaness of the London slums…". Just like most people in America these men were seeking to achieve one of the most highly publicized yet most elusive items in this great democratic state, which is the American Dream. Both men were raised in environments that prepared them more for survival in a world that would not support them instead of amassing knowledge that would allow for them to dig themselves out of their particular situations. These two gentlemen are not naturally sinful, wicked, or immoral, however, they are trying to adjust their lives in order to benefit from their knowledge even though it promotes illegal activities.

Now that we know what lead to these men being iniquitous let take a minute to see why their behavior broke the bounds of decency within their communities. Lazarus Morell was a man who figured he could take advantage of one of the biggest money making business's that this world has ever known, the slave trade. During this time there were white people who took on the task of attempting to abolish slavery and in doing so they would help slaves escape. Well he decided that he would use his skin color and persuasive ability to get the trust of existing slaves around the city. His plan was to coax a slave into running away and hiding out until there was a reward put out, then he would act as though he caught them and resale them back to the owner. Afterward he would give the slave a percentage of the money and help him escape for real. Well Mr. Morell being the iniquitous person that he had grown to be chose to do something else. Instead of helping the slaves escape from slavery he would sale and resale the slaves over and over again, and just when he felt that the slave would try and runaway on his own he would shoot and kill him. Within this particular case we see that the community that is being affected is the Slave community. For they are placing their trust in him and are later losing their life for it.

In conclusion iniquity is not a phase that comes along naturally as many may believe, however, it is one that can be based on a persons environment. The qualities that one learns through life can be both biological, but also experiential. These two men as devious, and to some degree as careless as they are, present to my mind that they based their life on their situations at hand.

Marketing Mix Paper

Marketing fundamentals are often taught in terms of the old Four Ps of Marketing model Price, Product, Place, Promotion. This is a solid tool that explains how consistent, unified marketing messages are the key to business success. These concepts apply to businesses and organizations of all sizes and types.

"The Four Ps of Marketing"

Price Regular price, discount price, expected price. Price impacts first time purchases as well as customer perceptions of value and satisfaction.

Product What the organization sell. When the Four P model was written the economy was primarily based on tangible products - soap, tools, and dryers. Intangible products and services, like software and insurance, make up much more of todays economy.

Place Place refers to where products and services are sold, distribution channels, and retail or wholesale arrangements. The Internet continues to disrupt place in context of the Four Ps.

Promotion Promotion refers to the vehicles used to make customers aware of products or service. Promotion covers radio advertising, in-store samples, and coupons among others.

Consistent Unified Message is defined as a consistent unified message utilizes all Four Ps to communicate the same overall message to customers and prospective customers, as and example we want to use a Luxury Automobiles

Price Higher than average. Luxury automobiles rarely have a sale price and are rarely offered with sale equivalents like cash back offers or manufacturers rebate. When is the last time you saw an advertisement for the Fall Porsche & BMW Blowout Sale?

Product Very visible upscale quality and details. Leather interior, premium sound, automatic everything, smooth quiet ride, and free basic services like oil changes. In short, the quality and features match the higher than average price.

Place Sold in nicely appointed showrooms that are typically inside a building versus out in the cold. Customers and tire-kicking prospects get the royal treatment.

Promotion Ads run in magazines or during television shows that have upscale income and education audiences. The main advertising message tends to focus on broad vision statements like You are successful, so buy one versus functional details like Gets miles per gallon. In sum, all four elements work together. They build and support the powerful mental imagery that Luxury Automobiles create.

Companies need to be careful with inconsistent messages because this mistake can be understood as message trap - high quality and low price. This message combination often gets construed as inconsistent. Why? Consider these two phrases. You get what you pay for. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Most people view these phrases as quite stable fact. As such, products or services that make claim to both high quality, upscale attributes and low or discount pricing face challenges. Certainly there are exceptions, but most customers when faced with the high quality, low price combination ask, What is the catch? Rightly or wrongly, they assume some shortcut has been taken.

To combat this perception, businesses provide supporting messages that tell customers how they provide both high quality and low prices. Perhaps they purchase in high volume and pass on volume savings to customers perhaps they offer no-frills service - like a u bag it grocery store.

A consistent and well integrated message utilizes multiple vehicles to communicate the same message to customers. The "Four Ps of Marketing" Price, Product, Place, and Promotion is a good model that helps businesses analyze their message for consistent, unified content and themes. Inconsistent messages, especially the low-price & high-quality trap, require additional supportive messages that clarify.

The Consistent, Unified Message applies equally well to businesses and organizations of all sizes.

As we enter the 1st century many new issues and problems have to be dealt with, one concerning issue is that of Money and Wealth and how these material things are causing greed and shaping how we act as human beings. This issue can be seen through many texts, namely the book, The Great Gatsby, and the film, Citizen Kane, and it was only after reading and viewing these texts that my eyes were opened to the issue. The issue is also evident in many current affairs today and highlights how money and wealth have today become more important than individual qualities such as kindness and generosity. It is important, especially in todays society, that we take hold of such an issue to prevent ourselves from becoming too materialistic and remembering what really is important, rather than living only to have money and become wealthy.

Upon reading the text, The Great Gatsby, I was able to see how the issue of money and wealth leads to greed and has today become more important that personal qualities which make us who we are. Although many may believe that money and wealth is the key to a happy life many others would have to disagree. In the text, The Great Gatsby, the audience is forced to believe or at least think that to be successful or happy, one must be rich. This idea is conveyed many times throughout the text. One example is the fact that when the main character, Jay Gatsby, firsts meets Daisy he cannot marry to her as he is a poor young solider and she is a wealthy women. Later on in the text when they meet again Jay has become wealthy, and they then consider marriage and take part in an affair, suggesting that only because Jay is now rich is he fit to marry a women such as Daisy. Is this how we want our world to work? Is it fair that we judge people, not by their own personal qualities, but by the degree of their wealth?

Another text that arises concern to the issue of money and wealth is the film, Citizen Kane. This text too suggests that money and wealth leads to greed and certainly influences the way people act as money and wealth are considered more important than personal qualities. This is conveyed as the main character, Citizen Kane, is unable to love or be loved, because his money has made him who he is and has taken from him the ability to look for or even have himself personal qualities which make people who they are. At one point in the film he even says himself, If I hadnt been very rich, I might have been a really great man, suggesting that his money and wealth has denied him from becoming a good person.

Personally, I believe that money and wealth does not entirely lead to greed and a materialistic view, but I do believe they play a large part in triggering and sustaining these alternative qualities and views. A prime example of how money and wealth has triggered greed and a materialistic view is Bill Gates, also known as the Microsoft man, one of the richest people in the world. Instead of playing fair Bill Gates has monopolised the computer software business by stealing other people ideas and incorporating them into his own Microsoft software. By doing this he is not only being greedy, something of which that money and wealth has made him do, but he is denying others of what they deserve through his greed for even more money and wealth.Buy cheap The 21st Century - Has money and wealth taken over? term paper

As we continue to progress into the 1st century we must not let money and wealth rule our way of thinking and acting. As important as money and wealth are in todays society we must remember what really is important and not let money and wealth take away our own personal qualities.

It can be done by various ways and the important commonly used methods of product research are;

Paired comparison tests, rank order test, rating scales, or statements concerned with likes and dislikes. The latter usually involves using a semantic differential test. Regardless of method employed, the objective is to obtain consumer preference measure and opinion for each salient product characteristic features, product attributes as well as for the overall product.

The following data gathering techniques pertaining to Product research are discussed below.

1 Staggered Comparison Test

Write my Essay on Data Gathering Techniques pertaining to Product research for me

This test is used to test several products in sequence form i.e., one after another. The respondent is given one product at a time for examination and use purpose. Later on he is asked to give his opinion about the product along with intentions to purchase and preference value. After some time, respondent is given second product and is expected to give his opinion. While testing the products, it is ensured that the consumer does not receive two identical products at one time and the identities of the two products are kept secret. This process is continued until all products have been tested by the respondent.

This method is based on actual testing of the product under real life situation, its supplies fairly accurate data on consumer response and opinion. However, this is a costly method and there is a possibility of the influence of the first product falling on the next product.

Monadic Use Tests/ Ranking method

The respondent or member from the selected group is given a sample of the product for examination and use purpose. Then the respondent is expected to rank or rate the product on intention to buy, preference and attitudinal scale. The respondent is also given different varieties or versions of the same products or leading competitive brands for testing purpose.

This is a simple method to execute. It allows comparative evaluation of the different versions of the same product in a short time.

Paired Comparison Test

This method is also called as "Comparative Use test." This method offers two products of the same variety but having some difference in taste or color at the same time to respondent for use purpose. Afterwards, the respondents are asked to give their views, opinions, preferences towards both the products.

Paired comparison test is quite common in test marketing or experimental type of research. The purpose of this method is useful to find out brand awareness, brand loyalty and brand preferences.

4 Conjoint Analysis Use Test

In this technique different formulations of the new product or an existing product having some difference in formulations are tested using comparative design. The differences in the formulation are purposely made to judge the attitude of consumers.

For example, the respondent maybe offered various types of Pepsi soft drink (i.e. with sugar, without sugar etc).

5 Non Directive Method

In this method a group of selected respondents is give free samples of the product to be tested with reference to price, quality or any other aspect of the product. The respondents are not given any instruction about the purpose of test; hence it is called as Non Directive Method. After some time the respondents are interviewed individually on various aspects of the product.

The Notebook is a very believable story with believable conflict throughout. The main conflict is Allie having to decide if the love and passion she had for Noah as a teen was still there and if it was stronger than the love she had for her fianc, Lon. "'But I also want a happy ending without hurting anyone. And I know that if I stayed, people would be hurt. Especially Lon. I wasn't lying when I told you that I love him. He doesn't make me feel the same way you do, but I care for him…'" (Pg 14) . She knew who she loved more; there was no doubt, but what would the people that she cared so much about think if she chose to be with Noah? "'...I wanted two things. First, I want you. I want us. I love you and I always have…'" (Pg 141) The conflict makes this story move along.

Dialogue is used in The Notebook to make the story more believable, also. The dialogue is very realistic. It sounds like a normal, flowing conversation with real emotion. "'Do you love Lon?' 'Yes, I do. I love him, too. Dearly, but in a different way. He doesn't make me feel the way Noah does.' 'No one will ever do that,' her mother said, and she released Allie's hand." The dialogue makes you feel as if you are a part of the story. It is heartfelt and clever.

The point of view in The Notebook is third-person omniscient. The author lets you know what the characters are thinking or feeling through dialogue and thought. Nicholas Sparks paints a picture with his dialogue almost as well as he does with his Imagery.

Imagery is a key element in this story because it keeps you entertained. It paints a picture for you to see in your mind. "Peaceful silence descended on them. An osprey cried somewhere in the distance. A mullet splashed near the bank. The paddle moved rhythmically, causing baffles that rocked the boat ever so lightly. The breeze had stopped, and the clouds grew blacker as the canoe moved toward some unknown destination." That description alone takes your mind to the destination with the characters. It's amazing how well Sparks does this.Cheap University Papers on The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks Analysis

Sparks also uses stereotypes to portray the character of Allie's fianc, Lon. He makes him sounds like the typical lawyer, putting in long hours at the office and leaving little time for his family. He draws a pretty clear picture why Allie may not be as happy with Lon as she could be. Stereotypes are easy to use on minor characters, so the author has more time to describe the more important characters.

Racism in Othello

"Carolina, why do you always get called out of class?" I asked, "Oh, it's just a program for Hispanic students that helps me to keep my grades up so I can get a scholarship for college." She replied. Immediately I was angry. I wasn't angry because Carolina had good grades, but I was angry because that program was only offered to Hispanics. If somebody were keeping track of me, making sure that I had good grades, I surely wouldn't be here, at Butte College, this very moment. I understand that because she is Hispanic, it is automatically assumed that her family is poverty-stricken. What about me? My family certainly didn't have a lot of money, especially to send me to college. I just didn't understand.

Now, my understandings are much clearer. I have come to believe that because of the extensive racism in the past, it should somehow be made up for now. Although racism still occurs, there is now way to make up for what has happened in the previous years. At least if there is, giving money to students of minority families for school isn't the best idea.

Racism has been around for as long as anyone can remember, and will remain until the end of time. It goes way back to the Shakespearian days. In one of Shakespeare's well-known plays, Othello, racism is a strong subject occurring throughout the entire play.

Desdemona, the daughter of a sophisticated civilized Venetian senator Brabantio, marries Othello, a black soldier and nobleman of stature. Since at the time, blacks were not known except as slaves, this generates quite the controversy. A jealous, false, deceiving soldier, Iago, does everything he can to split Desdemona and Othello apart. He is the catalyst of all the destructive happenings within the play. Starting from the very beginning when he and Roderigo, a gulled gentleman, (Othello) approach the residence of Brabantio in 1.1. He uses crude, racist language to appeal to Brabantio's traditional beliefs, including such phrases as,

IAGO Even now, now, very now, an old black ram

Is tupping your white ewe!

Othello 1.1, P.6, lines 85-86

Iago even goes so far as to propose that Brobantio's grandchildren will be animals because of his daughter's base marriage with an 'other.'

IAGO…you'll have

your daughter covered with a Barbary horse,

you'll have you nephews neigh to you, you'll have

coursers for cousins, and jennets for germans.

Othello 1.1, P.7, lines 108-111

Since racial discrimination and persecution (Webster's) have been around for such a long time, it is thought that by now, it would have "died out." However, the subject is still as strong as it was when slavery was a broad topic. Racism is everywhere; in the workplace, at school, on the streets, in music, in literature, and on T.V.

What is the current rule of the press in the 1st century?

News stations in the 1st century are here to inform us about issues around the world. With the newest technology people can now receive the latest issue from their favorite news-station. Either if you are a left-wing or a right-wing you will find a suitable news-channel.

In general speaking, it is impossible to switch over to a news-station sending neutral reports concerning world wide issues. Each news-station has its own opinion, politics and maybe even an hidden agenda. They are here to stay and to affect and direct your opinion to what they think is for your own good.

What they broadcast on the news-channel is very dependant on from which country it origins from. Like in a western country there are more than just two channels, which e.g. represents the left-wing's and the right-wing's opinion. Things they broadcast are not censured by the government, but a warning is usually issued before it goes onto the screen. Democracy has a big influence on the western culture whilst in the middle-east they are not permitted to have the freedom of speech, freedom of broadcasting whatever they like to in a certain extend etc. As a matter of fact, their broadcasts are more biased than any other western news-channel.

Cheap Custom Essays on Media

Who chooses the issues of the day

A news-station need to broadcast things they think will make people interested. Everyday there is something which makes its way to be news, e.g. the murder of a famous politician, Anna Lindh. They need to prior the most important issues in their limited broadcasting time.

The news-stations are dependant on the customers, but in the end it is the news-station, which decides what to broadcast as well as they need to satisfy their customer. What people usually want to hear is gossip, but news-station need to make it into serious 'gossip'.

Looking back at /11 - that was the top-issue for 14 days in a row hitting the frontpage on every single newspaper in every single country except some Middle-eastern of course. The disaster was broadcasted immediately when the first plane hit the southern tower. It was broadcasted worldwide and the site counts were extreme on CNN.com and the viewers were major on all large international news-station.

What factors affect this decision?

In countries where democracy is high prioritized, the press is usually owned by rich individuals, and therefore they include and try to promote their own personal opinions. In countries like Singapore the press is owned by the government, which allows them to censure anything they do not want people to hear about i.e. that they are in lack of labors. The lack of freedom in some countries affect the news being broadcasted either in newspapers or on the television.

The year 186 was the time that the Untied States of America came down as a whole. Many people were hurt and confused by the Jim Crow laws. These laws were established in order or keep the blacks and whites separated in public places. Jim Crow laws made a huge impact on society in the 10's.

On May 18, 186, the U.S. Supreme Court considered the idea of "separate but equal," which was the base of the Jim Crow laws. This was the case of the Plessy versus Ferguson.

The United States Constitution did not allow many types of discrimination such as black people being mistreated. Therefore, the states worked around the rules to include Jim Crow laws without disobeying the United States Constitution. This made African Americans considered as the "lower class" citizens. Many people were judging the blacks because of their skin; they were not respected as human beings. They were also not entitled to vote in some states, take literary tests, or poll taxes. All over the South, "white" and "colored" signs went up. Trains, buses barber shops, schools, and other public places were segregated by law.

All black people were separated from the whites when using public transportation. To sit on a public bus was an immense ordeal because the

black people had to sit in the back seats while the whites in the front. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks are few of the many people who wanted to stop the racist segregation.

Jim Crow laws existed between the end of the formal Reconstruction period in 1877 and the beginning of a strong civil rights movement in the 150's. Jim Crow Laws have not just effected the African Americans; it effected the white people too. Some people liked the racism, however, some did not. "Jump Jim Crow" was the name of a minstrel routine performed by Thomas Dartmouth Rice beginning in 188 and widely imitated by other minstrel performers. Qualifications were often given up for whites through a Grandfather Clause. This allowed only men to be exempted from qualifications if their grandfathers were legally allowed to vote. Many whites were exempted, however no blacks were.

Many schools in the United States were also separating the whites and the blacks. The schools consisted of all black and all white schools. If a child went to school in the other races' area, that was illegal. A major setback occurred for Jim Crow laws in 154, when the Supreme Court ruled in Brown versus Board of Education and declared that segregated schools were unconstitutional.

It truly is a blessing that Jim Crow laws are not in the United States today. People should be accepted no matter what color, race, or religion they come from. Many people are still hurt and confused as to why it even started in the first place, I know I am.

In -pac's song "Dear Mama" he thanks his mother for all the good that she has done for him throughout his struggling life. He begins the song talking about his childhood days when he was seventeen and kicked out of the house. Even though his mother had kicked him out of the house for having their differences, he looks passed all of the mistakes and try's to reconcile for the tough times he had put her through. "Dear Mama" is a poem that was written from a son to a mother, thanking her for all the things that she had done for him in the past. -Pac brings his childhood experiences directly into the song, giving examples of the bad times that he had endured as a youngster. Even though she was a drug addict and never was around for him, -pac still appreciates everything his mother tried to do to make his life better. He understands that his mother was just playing the cards she was dealt.

The theme of this song is very depressing considering all the bad that he talks about. -Pac writes about how dark his days were being in and out of jail and always struggling to make a dollar. Even though he encountered a lot of obstacles as a child, he always new how to deal with them. He understood that his mother wasn't perfect and never really had a straight head on her shoulders, but he did all he could to help her when she was down. Whatever it was he did, from selling drugs on the streets to running from the cops, he always gave his mother the recognition she deserved. This song is a thank you letter to his mother for bringing him to this world. -Pac respects his mother very much for all that she had done for him as a child. In his first verse he thanks her for all the little things that she put up with, and even though she wasn't always there, he forgives her and understands she did what she could.

In the second verse -Pac talks about how he never had a father. He never had someone that he could look up to and follow in his footsteps. This was hard for him as a child being raised in the streets. There was nobody in his life to tell him right from wrong, so he resorted to drugs and crime. This was the easiest way to make money for him and his family, so he had to take on responsibilities as a father. He always appreciated bringing money home and paying for the rent. -Pac portrays himself as a lonely misunderstood kid that did what he had to do to survive. He realizes that for a single mother it was not easy raising two children on welfare. So the only possible option was selling dope; something most people do to make easy money. He lets us know that his mother was a "crack fiend", but in his eyes she will always be a "black queen". He was a very understanding person and I respect him for his strive to make life better for himself and his mother. I believe there's nothing more rewarding than love from a mother.

Please note that this sample paper on 2 pac is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In 1 my dad decided to run for a political position in our community. He entered this race after the deadline for his name to be posted on the ballot so he had to run as a write-in candidate. He went door-to-door campaigning for this office and did his best to inform people about his entrance into this election. On the night of the elections, we got together at a friend's house and listened for the results on the radio. My dad ended up winning the race for this position by a fairly large amount. For the last four years, my dad has done his best to serve his community to the best of his ability and is planning on running again.

My dad's office does not bear the greatest responsibility in the world but is vital to our city's future. Since this office is a part time position, my dad also works as an engineer for a car company. This job also offers opportunities to benefit America's future. For example, the products my dad engineers make parts that are put into cars that transport people for years to come.

So at about now you may be thinking that I may follow in my old man's footsteps…nope. I admit, I may have some interest in politics but I would never be able to sit through all those meetings…Yuck. Political positions may be the most obvious way to contribute to the future of America but they certainly are not the only way. All careers, whether it be working as a cashier at McDonalds, or being the C.E.O. of a major corporation offer some way to make America even better than it already is.

Take a teacher for instance. Everyone, at one point or another, has heard the phrase "Kids are the keys to America's future" or something to that extent. Teachers are the educators of those "Future Leaders of America." A teacher is one of those professions, which, the effects of which are not fully appreciated until after the child has graduated. I am constantly hearing about famous people who talk about how their experience in such and such a school or with Mr. So-and-so has had such a great impact on their life. Teachers help establish the future of their students.

Most people think that you have to be smart or rich or good looking to be a contribution to your community. Lets go back to the story about my dad for a minute; he isn't exceedingly smart, rich or good-looking so what makes him different from anyone else. He does the best he can do. It does not matter whether you are a fireman, policeman, lawyer, artist, sales clerk, or whatever it is you have decided to spend your life doing. All that matters is that you do your best

High School versus college

There are many differences between college and high school. I experienced many of these differences my self. For example in high school, you need permission to go somewhere as far as college you decide where you want to go and when you want to go. Also, High School is mandatory and free, College is voluntary and expensive. I remember when my class was taking a trip to Disney world. I left school with my permission slip in hand and I was on my way home to get it signed. To my surprise, my mother was no where to be found. Then I said to myself, maybe she will be back in a couple of hours. The next morning I woke up and it was time for school, but to find out that my mother was not home yet. She was working a double shift at the hospital, so I missed an opportunity to go to Disney world. Now that I am in college, I don't have that problem, reason being that in college, everybody is considered an adult and you make your own decisions. Instead of your parents deciding whether you can participate in something, you must decide whether to participate in co-curricular activities.

In high school, you are mandatory to go to school and it's very much free. But since it's free, you have to make it to class on time, worry about attendance, check in with your home room teacher. You need to be there everyday. As far as college, you don't have to check in, you show up when you want to and there is no homeroom teacher to check in with. But if you don't go, it's like you throwing away a lot of money. Although the restrictions that you had in high school are not there in college, in college you are paying for your education. So you are still obligated to be there. Unless you just have all this money to waste.

Taking class trips always seemed to put me on a mission to find my parents to sign a permission slip. If they did not sign the slip, you could not go on the field trip. Although my parents let me go any way, I still hated the fact that I had to have them sign it all the time. My first year in college, when we went on trips, I never had to get anything singed. We simply just got on the bus and left. In college, it's up to you as to where you wanna go, and when.Buy custom High shool vs. college term paper

Personally I prefer college over high school more. Because, you get more freedom to do what you wanna do. You can go to school whenever you want to. If you go to school away from your home, there are no parents and you can leave class whenever you want. In high school, the only thing it did for me, was provide me with some memories and I would never want to go back to those days. Simply because I prefer college over high school.

Please note that this sample paper on High shool vs. college is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. Alberto Giacometti was born October 10, 101, in Borgonovo, Switzerland, and grew up in the nearby town of Stampa. The son of a successful post-Impressionist painter, Giacometti studied painting and sculpture in Geneva, before moving to Paris in 1 (Gohlke 00).

The works of Paul Czanne and Alexander Archipenko impressed Giacometti. He was also deeply affected by the masterpieces of Giotto and Tintoretto. But Giacometti's early works, however, reflected the influence of African, Oceanic art and Cubism (Bonnefoy 11).

During the 10s, Giacometti came into contact with the Paris avant-garde and became a distinguished figure in the Surrealist group. His first solo exhibition in 1 at Galerie Pierre Colle, confirmed this position as Surrealism's most important sculptor. During this time, many of his works have a nightmarish quality, with evocation of sexual violence and physical confinement (Bonnefoy 11). Examples famous during this time are Woman Having Her Throat Cut and Hands Holding The Void. In 15, Giacometti grew dissatisfied with the purely imaginary aspect of Surrealism, and began working from nature, using people he knew as models. During the early 140s, Giacometti developed a close friendship with Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, and became involved with the Existentialist movement. It is during this period that he developed his characteristic style, producing the tall, emaciated figures for which he is best known. Giacometti's haunting sculptures have been described as a perfect metaphor of existential man solitary stripped figures inhabiting a vast and meaningless silent void (Bonnefoy 11). His solitary figures are imprisoned on large bases, and physical decay is represented through the sculptures' gouged surfaces. Man Pointing and City Square are his famous examples portraying these features in bronze.

Around 150, the artist turned with renewed interest to painting and printmaking. His portraits are nearly always frontal views of single immobile figures. Tireless in his efforts to define the human figure, he drew and sculpted the subjects close to him again and again. His brother Diego and his wife Annette, his most constant models, are represented in many of his works during this period (Bonnefoy 11).

In 155, Giacometti was honored with major retrospectives at the Arts Council Gallery in London And the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. He received the Sculpture Prize at the Carnegie International in Pittsburgh in 161 and the first prize for sculpture at the Venice Biennale of 16. In 165, Giacometti was also awarded the Grand National Prize for Art by the French government (Gohlke 00).

George Balanchine was born in 104 in Russia. At age nine he began training at the imperial School in St-Petersburg but the school closed in 117 due to the Russian Revolution. Balanchine finally graduated in 11 and then he joined the Soviet State Ballet (also known as the Kirov Ballet). In 1 he was invited to the United States by young wealthy American named Lincoln Kirstein. In 14, with the help of Kirstein, Balanchine opened the School of American Ballet. The Metropolitan Opera Co. made the SAB its ballet company but Balanchine's previous troubles with management came back to haunt him. In Russia, Balanchine had tried to start his own ballet company but was unsuccessful due to the problems with the board at the Maryinsky Theater who thought that he did not respect tradition. Balanchine also created the Ballet Caravan and traveled to South America but had to disband it due to WWII.

It was in this period that Balanchine choreographed his first American ballet Serenade. It was danced to the music of Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings. Seeing as it was originally choreographed for his students, the ballet is quite simple relying mostly on arm movements. There a few male parts in that ballet because Balanchine did not have many male students at the time.

Balanchine's style has been described as a reaction to the Romantic anti-classicism that was the more popular style of dance in the European and Russian ballet when he first started out to dance. It could be called neo-classicism. Balanchine liked to put the emphasis on the dancing in his choreographies as opposed to the plot of the ballet.

Throughout his tenure as the Artistic Director for the New York City ballet Balanchine choreographed in total 175 ballets since the beginning of the company. He liked to think of himself as craftsman not a creator. His favourite similes were a cook or a cabinet maker, two skills he was quite good at. He also had a habit of marrying his protgs for whom he created ballets and made stars out of. He was married a total of five times.

Balanchine believed that a ballet must be able to stand on its own apart from the music. He has been quoted of saying "We must first realize that dancing is an absolutely independent art, not merely a secondary accompanying one. I believe that it is one of the great arts. Like the music of great musicians, it can be enjoyed and understood without any verbal introduction or explanation..."

Balanchine is one of the most celebrated and prolific choreographers of the ballet world. His contribution is one of the most significant that there is. He died of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease on April 0th, 18.

My Parents are getting a Divorce

Sadness, confusion, helplessness.

My parents are getting a divorce.

Screaming, crying and slamming of doors. That is what I heard all of the time.Cheap custom writing service can write essays on My Parents are getting a Divorce

Growing up, I listened to many arguments. Some about money, others about parenting. I thought parents' fighting and arguing was normal.

Either on their way, or already are, most of my friends parents are divorcing. I really did not think that it would affect me the day I found out my parents had settled on divorcing.

Over the next couple of months, I thought the fighting would diminish because their marriage would finally end. In my mind, a divorce meant that they would be communicating very little, if any, from this point on. But was I wrong!

It only became worse. The arguing escalated, and they started to blame one another for every little thing.

I can remember when my father became angry with my mother one night. It was Christmas Eve, and I was sleeping in my bed. I was suddenly awakened by blatant noises.

I looked out my door and saw my mother crying. My father was screaming, "Why did you buy another pair of shoes? She has so many shoes." My mom just yelled back with tears running down her hurt face, " It's just a pair of shoes." My mom had bought a pair of shoes for my sister for Christmas. On the outside, I saw my mother sobbing over shoes. But I knew on the inside it was much more than that.

I can remember the smallest things starting the fighting. I still do not understand the big deal that my father made about a pair of shoes. It seemed that every penny had to be rightfully spent and accounted for.

It was always issues concerning money or parenting.

I always thought that divorce was a sort of normal thing to go through. I think this more and more these days do to my friends' families and what I see poured out on TV.

It has been about a year since their divorce, and the fighting comes and goes. I will never understand all the reasons they split up.

Although they are now divorced, they have been spending more and more time together. I think it is because my brother and sister have moved out of town and my parents are lonely.

I secretly hope that one day when I will arrive home and experience them sitting on the sofa, like they were when they told us about the divorce. Only this time, it would be good news. They are getting back together!

LUST BY SUSAN MINOT

LUST is a short, autobiographical, serious fiction, written by Susan Minot. The author talks about her fleeting , lustful relationships which were seemingly interesting in the beginning eventually faded away leaving a feeling of disgust , guilt and vacuum within herself.

The common theme of the story is that of various adventurous sexual encounters of the author with different boys lasting only too shortly. However at the end of the story, excitement in each encounter changes to the feeling of disgrace, disgust and depression.

The main character of the story is the author herself who adopts the first person participant voice. However, readers cannot completely rely on the information given by the author because she does not reveal every aspect of her encounter with the boy. She fails to report her part of involvement in the relationship. The narrator portrays herself as a lascivious but emotional person capable of analyzing the feelings resulting after each breaking relationship. Yet, the author fails to give any kind of specific portray of any of her boy friends'.Buy cheap Lust By susan Minot term paper

The plot is that of inconsistent relationships based solely on the selfish physical desires and pleasures associated with the aftermath of fulfillment of those desires.

The conflict lies in the author's lustful desires Vs the feeling of disgust, emptiness, disgrace and remorse. The author however does not resolve the conflict for the readers.

The author's style of writing is unique. She adopts a discontinuous, unrelated and unconnected method of writing which gives it an effect of excerpts taken from a personal diary. Also, she keeps switching between the first person point of reference and second person point of reference. E.g. "For a long time, I had Philip on the brain. The less they noticed you, the more you got them on brain."(pg.58, 4Th Para.) In this manner she sometimes makes the reader an observer and at other times, a participant.

The mood is variable throughout the story but the conclusion leaves the reader depressed. The setting is variable too throughout but ending in a gloomy.

The pace of the story is fast. Each incidence is short. The paragraphs are many but small containing few sentences.

The story is difficulty to understand because of the discontinuous style of writing. By the end of the story the reader begins to have a feeling of disgust toward the relationships which are built completely on the foundation of lust.
