It is hard to choose a single song that best describes every emotion I was ever been confronted with. I was not about to find a song that happened to be my favorite at the moment. Music is everything to me and Lifehouse's, "Everything" describes who I am and who I always will be.

The chorus is, "How can I stand here by you without being moved by you?" This line expresses my emotions for any person I have ever encountered. Whether you have been influenced by a person in a positive or negative way, you still have been "moved by them" in some way. Your personal actions are influenced by the people you meet.

One other aspect is the romantic outlook this song reflects. Any questions that I have regarding relationships always seem to be answered within the lyrics. The longing I have had and the love that I once shared with someone wonderful is expressed in these lyrics.

I believe that everyone should have that one song that touches you every time you hear it. Everything influential about love and life has been captured within this one piece. I will share this song with anyone who has ever loved and who has been immensely affected by another human being.

Eudora Welty invokes powerful symbolism in her short story "Livvie." She expresses life and death symbolically through her characters and through the settings in which they interact. Welty also gives Solomon a characterization of being a deity a god that is all knowing and is in control of his world. His strict, dominating reign keeps Livvie in his power until the end.

Life and death symbols are encountered repeatedly in this short story. The title, "Livvie," indicates the vibrant life of the protagonist, Livvie. She is a youth for "she was sixteen and only a girl, then… while nine years went by … and she was still young." The story [remove "in"] takes place in the spring and everything there offers a sense of newness. The "snow white curtains," white is a color for purity and freshness, the "spring winds", and even Cash in his "springy steps" inform the reader that life is in the air. It also gives foreshadowing of what is to come, the birth a new beginning. As the reader "nears the end of the story, it becomes apparent that Easter is coming, which is significant of rebirth. Cash indicates the coming holiday when he exclaims, "I ready for Easter!" In contrast to spring and Livvie's youth is Solomon in his representation of winter and death. One of the lines that establishes this distinction is "if she is choosing winter, would she pine for spring." In addition, "a lace bed spread belonged on the bed" yet he slept under a quilt "what Solomon's mother made." The quilt is a representation of winter, cold, and death and also a longing for his mother as his days grow short. Moreover, Solomon's name implies the role he plays in the story

SHE TALKS TO THE ANGELS

Bundled in pink, she resembles a tiny flesh-made toy.

Subtle wiggling; a toothless smile, she drools with joy.

She rehearses sounds; a feeble attempt to silence annoy.Custom Essays on she talks to angels

A few months behind her, still, her whole life to enjoy

The others wonder what words her noises employ,

But I already know, she talks to the angels.

When diapers were gone, and bottles bid adieu

Backpacks, pony-tails, jump ropes and Elmer's glue

Started her new life of school, the same as all kids do

Mom muttered when she vanished behind doors of blue

Mom won't say who she was talking to, but I already knew.

She was talking, talking to the angels.

Time faded and she traded in her jeans and sweatshirt of gray

For a wedding gown, and veil and beautiful bouquet

And while the music softly played she knelt, and she prayed

The minister read to them, from the Bible on that, her wedding day

And though from me she kept the words she prayed

I know she thanked the angels for sending him her way.

When the first child of her own from the hospital was brought

She loved her, held and kissed her, and without any thought

She gave her, her own special gift. A gift that can't be taught

But is given through love. That gift was the freedom of thought

That allows both young and old alike to pray when distraught

And talk to the angels, and talk to them a lot.

And that was her life, and I knew I would see

The day that would come when even for me

She would talk to the angels, and ask them to please

Remove the fatal disease, and bring healing to me

But she had already taught me, also, to pray as I pleased,

So when I talked to the angels,

…they released me,

……to be finally free.

So now from Heaven from where I can see

She is still talking to angels and guess what…

she still talks to me!

One of the most important and difficult social problems the world faces today is the rapid increase in crime in our society. Citizens, social critics and politicians all seem to have their own theories of what is causing crime and what should be done about it. Unfortunately, many of these theories are superficial, simplistic and misguided. As a general rule, America is a society which tends to blame the individual. This means that when crime occurs, we assume that the offender is an inherently "bad" person committing a bad act. The general recommendation is that this person be punished, thrown in jail, executed, etc. In reality, however, this approach is highly unlikely to have a significant effect on crime. This is true because the individualistic perspective ignores the complex social factors, and one of the factors, and one of the most commonly ignored, is the issue of metropolitan inequality. In order to truly understand the causes and possible remedies of crime in America, we must approach the problem in terms of effective theories which address the socioeconomic realities of America's inner cities.

Ultimately, then, it is clear that metropolitan inequality is closely related to the problem of inner city violence. As Wilson points out, the lower classes in our country have long suffered from "chronic subordination" to the policies of the more powerful class. This dynamic has led to feelings of hopelessness and lack of opportunity. These feelings, in turn, have contributed to a rise in violent crime. Gordon's class conflict theory of class accumulation offers strong frameworks which illustrate the link between metropolitan inequality and rising crime rates. As the current dynamic continues to affect society, it is likely crime will only continue to rise in the future. The only way to truly avoid such outbursts is to somehow shift the dynamic so that the lower classes will gain some voice in the way our country is governed and the way the residents of inner cities are treated.

What we need from you is to provide us with your detailed paper instructions for our experienced writers to follow all of your specific writing requirements. The marriage of Ann and John is not that strong. This stems from two differences in opinion. John believes that to please his wife he must work hard all day and pay the bills so she can eventually have all the nice things she wants. Ann, on the other hand, would like John to spend more time with her in stead of slaving away over the farm. Johns leaving for his father's house puts additional stress on the marriage. It is then that Ann has time to think about their relationship. The storm also contributes to Ann's feelings of loneliness and despair. The blame for their weak relationship falls on John for not paying enough attention to her.

John is a slow, unambitious man, content with his farm and cattle, and naively proud of Ann. We know this because the author tells us in the exposition. He is also very hard working. He demonstrates this quality by his unwillingness to take on a hired man. This might also be taken as John just being cheap and not wanting to pay another man for work. He is a very devoted husband to Ann. We know this because everything he does is for her, whether directly or indirectly. He works like a dog all day long to make money to pay off the mortgage so that in the future Ann can have all the nice things she wants. He also shows his love for her by coming back through the storm just to be with her. At the end when John catches Ann with Steven he isn't sure what to do. He finally decides to kill him self so Ann can be happy with the one she truly loves, Steven. John is an all around good guy.

At the beginning of the story we see that Ann is not happy with her life. We see this by her attitude towards John when he says that he will go to his father's house for the day. "Plenty to eat plenty of wood to keep me warm what more could a woman ask for?", this passage shows just how unhappy she is. She is also a very lonely woman. We know this because she tells John that she gets lonely when he leaves. It is this loneliness that drives her to commit adultery. Ann also feels that she is unimportant to John because he frequently leaves her alone in the house. Ann still wants to act like a young person. We see this when she is thinking to herself while John is gone. She thinks they should wait to pay off the mortgage for a while and do things now before they are to old to enjoy them. After Ann sleeps with John she feels really bad. She shows this by crying in bed after she commits the act. She realizes then that John is the only one for her, but by then John is dead.

Ann is the most to blame for everything that happened. It is true that John didn't pay much attention to her but Ann never told him how she felt so they had no chance of working it out. If she would have told him that she wanted to spend more time with him I'm sure John would have been happy to do so. She brings on her own depression by not telling him her true feelings. She is also to blame for John's suicide. It was her choice to sleep with Steven; John did not do anything to provoke it.Custom writing service can write essays on Ann and John

Hester Prynne's Battle

The seventeenth century is a time of punishment and death to those who do not conform to Puritan laws. The young, tall, and beautiful Hester Prynne lives in this intolerable culture in Boston, Massachusetts. In Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne battles society and revealed sin, and emerges as a capable, respectable woman.

In this novel Hawthorne sees Hester as a victim for several reasons. Hester is a victim to her youth because she lives in an age where she is forced to marry without love. In England, Hester's family is wealthy, but they lose their money, so her parents arrange for her to marry a scholar, Roger Chillingsworth. Hester is forced to marry this man so she will survive. She does not commit to him on her own accord. Chillingsworth marries the young and passionate Hester knowing she did not return his love. Roger admits she is unsuitable for him saying, " I a man of thought…what had I to do with youth and beauty like thine own! (Hawthorne 71). He knows he is not suited for the role of her husband, but selfishly he takes advantage of this situation.

Hester faces further adversity in Boston with Chillingworth's acts of stupidity, and her lover's weakness. Baym describes her situation by writing, "She was sent to Massachusetts in advance of her husband; he had decided to emigrate, not she" (64). Hester is a victim to Roger's stupidity because he sends his wife to the colony while he remains in Amsterdam. Chillingsworth fails to realize the colony is a dangerous place for anyone, especially a young woman. Also after falling in love with Dimmesdale, she suffers from his weakness because he is unprepared to be a husband or a father. Arthur does not have the strength to claim responsibility for Pearl, so he leaves all the blame for Hester. His decisions leave him with an enormous amount of grief, and a terrible burden for her to face alone.Order Custom Hester Prynne Analysis paper

Through Hester's dilemmas and her revealed sin she becomes a stronger person who lives through truth. Baym writes describing her, "So strong was Hester Prynne, with a woman's strength" (66). She learns from her sin, and she grows strong as a result of accepting her punishment. She fully acknowledges her sin, and boldly displays it to the world. Hester's salvation lies in truth because she embroiders her symbol with elaborateness, and she wears the scarlet A long after she could have removed it. Hester proclaims to Dimmesdale, "Truth was the one virtue which I might have held fast, and did hold fast, through all extremity" (Hawthorne 10). Even though Hester is a victim she turns herself into a woman who helps others, and is respected by them.

Hester Prynne is a courageous woman who battles society and revealed sin, and emerges as a capable, respectable woman in The Scarlet Letter. When times are plagued with trouble for Hester she does not cower down, but she stays dedicated. She does not let any barriers keep her from remaining a model citizen.

This book A Child Called "It" by David Pelzer is a survival book. David Pelzer, the child, in A Child Called "It" has some rough times with his mother.

In the beginning he has a normal family and his mother loves him but soon all of that changes when his mother starts to drink. When she changes, David's mother beats him & starves him. When David goes to school with no lunch, & when he comes to school in the morning he takes desserts and lunches from his classmates. When the principle finds out, he calls David's mother and when David gets home she beats him.

One time his mother made him sit in the bathroom with the door closed and has a bucket of ammonia & Clorox was in it and he had a hard time breathing. Another time, his mother tells him he's getting timed to do chores to get food and if he wasn't on time she would kill him. One day while he was doing the dishes and his father was at work he turned around and saw his mother with a knife in her hand and said he took too long and was past the time limit she had told him. It really scared him.

David's little brother was once on his mother's leg, so she tried to get him off and then she fainted. She fell forward and the knife cut a line on David's stomach. Everything went black, and when he woke up he saw that his mom was cleaning him up and that the cut was bleeding constantly. His mother was training to be a nurse before she met his father so David didn't worry. David's mother was nice to him hat day but it didn't last. The next day he woke up and it was mostly the same but the mother took it a bit easier on David.

David stopped believing in god for a while after his mother almost drowned him on Halloween. The rest of the book is more of the same, with David getting punished more and more and finally one day when David went to school his teacher had him sent up to the nurses office. Like usual he was sent up to get checked on bruises and cuts and every time, he had an excuse for them. Whenever the nurse found a couple new marks and she always wrote them down. Finally, on that day she told the principle and he called the police.

The policeman came around lunch-time and David was called to eat lunch in the teachers cafeteria. There was the policeman and the teachers, nurse and principle there. David told the policeman the story and the policeman took him to the police station and said he would call David's mother, David freaked out and said " No if you call her and tell her, when I get she will beat me." The police man said he wasn't going home. The teachers said good-bye to David. They called the mother to inform her and David was sent to an orphanage.

THE END……

This book A Child Called "It" by David Pelzer is, in my opinion a survival book. It was a hard story to read because of how David was treated by his own mom.

The first sentence really got my attention, and I thought this book was really good and was very sad. I think this book was great overall. If I were to grade this book I would give it an A+. I recommend this book to anyone older than 8.

If you are sad, it is best to choose some sort of drama or tear jerker; you wouldn't want to watch a comedy. If you're upset or angry at someone, an action movie or thriller might just do the trick. Two other ways people feel when trying to watch movies are tired and hyper, but it is definitely best to be neither. If you are tired you will most likely fall asleep, and being hyper can cause you to not pay attention. To watch a movie you must be in the perfect frame of mind.

The second step to properly watching a movie is getting rid of as many distractions as possible. This step is probably the most important because if a distraction is large enough it can ruin an entire movie. The best time to watch a movie is when you are by yourself. No one can ask you questions when they don't understand what's going on, make noises to distract you, or tell you what's going to happen if they have already seen the movie. Nothing is worse than really wanting to see a movie and then have someone tell you who dies in it or what happens at the end. Perhaps the most common distraction for movie watchers is the telephone. If you're someone who receives several telephone calls a day, you might want to call ahead and tell everyone not to disturb you or just take the phone off the hook, because it is a horrible feeling to be at the climax of a movie and then hear the telephone ring.Order custom research paper on How to watch a movie

Last but not least, it is very important to be able to maintain focus during a movie. Staring at a screen for two hours tends to make people somewhat tired, so you need something that you can unconsciously do while watching a movie. One of the best things for this is eating. Popcorn is a good idea, but try and stay away from chips or anything else that comes in a noisy bag or that you have to crunch; these two things make bad distractions. Another thought is sewing; some people who are good enough at it can do it without taking away any attention from the movie. Not hungry; can't sew? No problem. Even something as simple as chewing a stick of gum and blowing bubbles can keep you awake and focused. One bad idea, however, is drinking. Sooner or later you will have to get up and go to the bathroom, and it might be at a part of the movie that you don't want to miss.

So you see, movie watching is highly underestimated. If you've ever had trouble staying awake while watching a movie or understanding a movie, try these three simple techniques and you might be surprised.

The United States was known to be a rather quiet country. Their motives were never meant to be harmful, as our leadership was our growing strength. The power we had to help other countries out when they needed was our contribution to show our potency. War, as we know it, has always tried to be avoided. Though one early Sunday morning, December 7th, 141 the citizens of Pearl Harbor were awaken by an unexpected blast of infamy that would last through their lives forever. It was a matter that they had no say in because it just happened in a click of a second. There has been controversy though, wondering whether or not war could have been avoid. Japan had been planning on their attack there for many months and finally went ahead and followed through with their plans. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was extremely detrimental to the United States military force and was an early turning point in World War II.

Before the attack, Japan had already been preparing for their messy fight against the United States. All obstacles were looked upon to makes sure that it was a flawless encounter. Just after war broke out in Europe, the plans took a bigger approach, as Germany and Italy informed Japan that they were on their sides through it all. During these couple of months before the actual event took place, the United States was suspicious of their small actions happening as Japan was growing. Observation of Pearl Harbor was a daily necessity to Japan. That included the talking through code to spy's in the United States; reading newspapers; listening to the radio and all other ways of contact of the status of the states. Once for example, a caller from a Tokyo newspaper called the Yomiuri Shinbun wanted to talk to a local Japanese dentist in Pearl Harbor. His name, the dentist was Dr. Motokazu Mori.

Tokyo asked about conditions in general about planes, searchlights, the weather, the number of sailors around…and about the flowers. 'Presently,' offered Dr. Mori, 'the flowers in bloom are fewest out of the whole year. However, the hibiscus and the poinsettia are in bloom now.' (Lord, 5)

Intelligence wondered about this call, for many different reasons but the main concern was why was a newspaper calling at an expensive rate to talk about plants, searchlights and sailors? It came to them that it was a spy. After that, the United States, more though Pearl Harbor was put on alert for anything suspicious to come into waters anywhere in the Pacific in a certain range off the coast of Hawaii. The United States during this time when talking and negotiations were still going on, wanted to cut off total exports of oil to Japan which some wonder, if they did, would it have made a difference, because they wouldn't have been able to actual make the attack without it. Though, because they had Italy and Germany on their side, most likely they would have found the oil to make the surprise attack. To Japan, it was a smile on their face because they knew the whole time that they would succeed, but to the United States, it was a face that a curious baby would make.

Some of the obvious hazards in the kitchen area would be the deep fryer, the rotisserie, large knifes and the oven and food warmers.

Some of the responsibilities that employees have when there are working, are they all must be clean and tidy wearing correct uniform and to wear it in the correct manner, also for the bar staff not to serve drinks to under age people, or drunk misbehaving customers, the cooks to wear aprons and hair nets and to continuously clean all cooking utensils and also to clean surface and cutting area thoroughly for each stage of the task, also for the waitress to make sure none has to wait to long to be served or for there meal.

Some of the responsibilities of the employer are to make sure there staff are following the rules/regulations and doing the right standard of work, to make sure there are no misbehaving customers and if so to deal or get rid of them and just make sure everything is running smoothly.

Uniform for all staff (excluding the cooks) is black pants, black well-maintained leather shoes, the company polo shirt and company apron. The cooks wear a fully white uniform with a white apron hair net and if desired a white hat with any colour leather shoes.

Over all I think doms is a well-run business that has the correct guidelines for its workers to abide by and it follows all health and safety regulations. If I were to work there I would have total piece of mined that I was safe and not in any danger because I was prepared for every thing.

Harrison Bergeron

At last, in the year 081, there is a world of perfect equality. With 'average' levels of intelligence, physical strength and appearance balanced out, America has finally become a utopian society. Yet there are flaws, and still inequality within the mask of equality that belittles all those with above-average skills. Brief yet effective, Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron" is a bitter satire of a futuristic America, seen through the eyes and voices of its citizens.

Write your harrison bergeron research paper

Vonnegut shows us through characters the different opinions each civilian feel towards this equality law. There is Hazel, who is of 'average' intelligence and too stupid to acknowledge even the death of her own son. Her thoughts come and go, drifting here and there. Hazel and all the other Hazel's in America are the ones who make the leaders of America feel so safe; for she is harmless and easily manipulated to fit their needs.

But then there is George; who is of above-average intelligence and physical fitness. He must not only endure the irritation of the ear transmitter every time he thinks too much, but also carry the burden of heavy weights around his neck to make up for his physical state. The transmitters are made to blast loud noise and disturb his train of thought, till his mind is as blank as his wife's, while the weights hinder him and force him to bend over at the force. Though the man understands what happens when his son dies right before him on the TV screen, he is unable to express his emotions.

And at last, our hero Harrison, a boy born with such intelligence, physical capabilities and handsome appearances that he was strapped into the most up-to-date technology barring the boy from his above-average skills. But he could not be hindered, and even when he was sent to jail, Harrison found a way to break free.

He and his ballerina were the most brilliant people anyone had ever seen, and because they exploited such skills, were made to pay the ultimate price. Before these new laws were enforced, citizens of America would've died to have a certain look or figure. But now, in the year 081, talent, appearances and practically everything that makes us unique are forbidden. The opinions of these enforced handicaps are mixed, as these three examples show, from desire to indifference, and from indifference to vulgar hate. And yet, it is from these three main characters that we get a sense of what life in 081 might be like, and the real power behind Vonnegut's story.

Harrison Bergeron satirizes equality in this story through the use of characters. It shows us the differences and the minds of average civilians versus those of above-average ones. George is strapped with bothersome implements while Harrison is forced to disfigure himself to deem 'average' in appearance. It is satirical in this way, because futuristic America goes overboard with the desire for equality. The message is clear though, and it reminds us that we shouldn't try too hard to be equal in every way. Uniqueness, individuality and personality are what makes us so special, and this world so interesting.

Dear Sabine,

I would like you to meet Bonnie, my new ESL classmate. Even though we have just known each other through our short conversation in class today, I can tell that she is a very interesting and energetic person.

Bonnie is originally from Hong Kong and has been studying at Foothill College for six months. She majors in Journalism, which I can tell she is enthusiastic about. Unlike most other business students from Hong Kong, who are always calm and quiet, Bonnie is pretty talkative and friendly. Her enthusiasm in our conversation made me feel like I wanted to draw more into talking with her. That's why we did not run out of things to talk, which often happens for most of people in their first meeting.

Bonnie loves to go shopping or surf the Internet when she has free time. She also told me that she loves going to clubs. But since she's now living in a country that has strict age limit rules, she cannot enjoy her time partying like she used to do when she lived in Hong Kong. As she was telling me, there's no age limit in Hong Kong so every kid can hang out with his or her friends at clubs. More than that, she told me all the recreational places in Hong Kong are open until 00 in the morning, which is quite different from the US. Most places here close at 00 in the evening.

Custom writing service can write essays on first ESL essay

" I'm kinda disappointed about the US. People here go to bed so early and it's so boring."

I guess it's a pretty common feeling among international students, because I do feel the same way. Entertainment in the US often concentrates at some certain places that are far away from residential areas. They don't spread out all over the city like in Hong Kong and other Asian cities.

Regardless, Bonnie still likes it here because she feels she has more freedom. Bonnie said that her host family does not care what time she gets home or how late she goes out at night. Normally, if she lived with her parents then she would not be allowed to go out late. But ever since she arrived here, no one has been in charge of her anymore, except herself. She is the one that has to be responsible for herself. She and I both agree that is a good experience for teenagers. It not only helps us to develop our own sense of responsibility but also gives us more freedom to make the choices that can teach us about responsibility, such as mistakes that we learn from.

Getting to know Bonnie was a very pleasant experience for me. It gave me the chance to make a new friend and know more about different cultures in the world. After talking to her and other students, I realized that even though international students have various feelings about living in the US, the culture shock from being transplanted into a different lifestyle is still a common factor among us. Getting over it or adapting to it is each student's choice.

The important idea is that you have to create something new to keep your study-abroad experience fresh and entertaining.

This is what I got from the conversation with Bonnie today. I hope I have further opportunities to get to know people in the class so I can share those experiences with you.

Best regards,

Khoa Nguyen

In the early seventeen hundreds, after the establishment of both New England and the Chesapeake, many similarities and differences arose between the two settlements. Some of the similarities and differences included such things as family life, economy, life expectancy, and society.

In the Chesapeake area, the life expectancy and general healthiness of the settlers was dangerously low. Diseases like malaria, typhoid, and dysentery had a deadly effect on the inhabitants of the area, cutting 10 years off the life expectancy. Family life in the Chesapeake was also a problem. Women were very scarce which made a strong family life almost impossible. Unmarried pregnancies were everywhere and marriages did not usually last for very long due to a death of one of the partners. This lifestyle was greatly contrasted in the area of New England. New Englanders enjoyed clean water and moderate temperatures that slowed the spread of diseases among the people. The people of New England actually had a life expectancy of ten years more than that of a person living in England. Also, in New England the family life was very strong and important. Women usually wed by their twenties and had around ten children, with about eight of those that would survive.

Another contrast in the lifestyle of the New Englanders to that of those in the Chesapeake was that women in the south would usually acquire land from their husbands after they died. In New England, however, the women would give up their property rights at marriage because widowhood was much less common and also because it did not promote the unity of marriage.

One common point between the two civilizations was the very prominent class distinctions. In both areas settlers also fought to restructure these systems. Rebellions such as Bacons 1676 rebellion in Virginia, and Leisler 168 to 161 rebellion in New York were due to the settlers unhappiness with the social class distinctions. Another similarity was that of relatively cheap and wages which almost tripled that of the English.

Write my Essay on Early colonial settlement cheap

Unity in New England was something that was not commonly found in the Chesapeake. New Englands puritan ways easily molded this tightly knight colony. In the Chesapeake this was not the case. Farmers were more of loners who did not move or live in very close communities. New England grew in a more organized way, unlike the Chesapeake that was very spontaneous in its growth. New England also established Harvard, the first college, in 166 as a training school for the ministry. This school opened only eight years after the founding of the colony. In Virginia, the first college of William and Mary did not open until 16, eighty-six years after Virginia was founded, this shows an example of the much more organized society of New England.

In conclusion, these two civilizations shared a few similarities, but many differences in their societies. But no matter how many differences they had, both colonies built up strong economies and became the cornerstones of the nation.

A definition for ``home`` would be where one feels most themselves, or in other words where one can act like the person they feel they are, where they can relax and be confident. This place may or may not be the place where you actually grew up. Personally the place where I feel most myself and the place where I would leave my "head" (the place where I can come back to, to clear my thoughts) would be in the middle of a soccer game. To me playing soccer is the closest to home than anything else.

In my eyes and I hope in others as well, I see myself as an athlete, but more importantly a soccer player. I have been playing in league soccer since the age of 6 and before then, I would play with my brothers. I grew up playing soccer and it seemed to come naturally to me. I now know what is to be expected on the field of play I am comfortable enough to not only say I know how to play but I know the sport. I enjoy it very much and I believe I will forever continue to play.

When I am playing soccer it is like I am in the middle of a dream. For many people, they may not ever live the life they dream, I do every time I step onto the soccer field. I am at the point in my soccer career where thinking is no longer needed; every thing just flows like a stream of water, peaceful, clean and natural. I hope that one day people can look at me the way I look at many other soccer players and say ``She plays soccer as though it is almost an art.`` I am so far from that point but some day I hope to reach my goal and be able to dance with the ball like the professionals can.

Being the captain of my team, I am given the responsibility to show good judgement and sportsmanship, everyone's eye are on me, it feels as though I am their teacher, I am in control and confident. I know what is expected of me and I know what I expect from myself. Yet there are the times when I am not so confident, such as in a big game or in nationals, these are the times when the storm clouds come over me I get scared and I do not know what to expect. These are also the times when I have to raise to the occasion not only for myself but my team. I have to fly above the clouds where the sun shines, and play how I know I can.

Order Custom My Home paper

When I had my accident, and I went half blind, nobody thought I would be able to play again. I proved them wrong; I am told that I am a stronger player now than I ever was before. This accident has possibly made me stronger. I love the sport, and I was not ready to give it up over some blindness. When I have the ball at my feet every thing becomes clear, I could still play completely blind if I had to, I know the actions and I barely need my vision to be successful. Rather thinking the accident made me blind, I try to think that it made me be able to look beyond my ``blind spot`` in soccer. I realize now that if I put every thing into what I want, nothing is impossible.

Playing soccer helps clear my thoughts clears my visions and puts things into perspective. It relieves negative energy and stress that is not needed in my life. Coming off the field I feel so clean (yet sweaty too) but clean of negative thoughts, and ideas that are not even of my own. Everyone always comments how I am always smiling on the, field, ``She is having too much fun out there.`` they say. The reason is that I am at peace. I am at home.

In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on My Home, we are here to assist you. Your persuasive essay on My Home will be written from scratch, so you do not have to worry about its originality.

Numbers, and, therefore, statistics may often be manipulated in such a way as to present an obscure side of the general picture by pointing out small and inconsequential details while ascribing false significance to those very details. In so doing, when a reader or observer is presented with such an incomplete whole, it is no wonder that he or she is predisposed to form an opinion about the subject matter that the numbers do not necessarily support. However, even though only a "crooked" picture was presented, people are prone to form their beliefs based on the information readily available to them. Environment-as-meaning is, of course, not new in the fictional mode, for man's interaction with his environment is indeed the very essence of fiction itself. But Steinbeck's romantic attachment to his country and its people is, in his best work, transmuted into authentic emotion, revealed in vivid, evocative passages which are distinctive. Couched in prose reminiscent of romantic poetry, they arouse sensations which unfold in dramatic action often destructive of dreams, hope, and even life itself

-Martha Heasley Cox

"In Search of John Steinbeck

His People and His LandCustom writing service can write essays on The Steinbeck Center at San Jose

The Steinbeck Center at San Jose State University, once located within the University Library and now existing within the Module buildings on campus, first breathed life in February of 171 with the organization of a three-day Conference and Film Festival celebrating the man whose work has influenced so many. The conference, slated for five hundred individuals, attracted more than eight hundred registrants from sixteen states, Canada, and Japan.

Formally dedicated in 174, and originally instituted my Martha Heasley Cox, an instructor at SJSU since 155, the Steinbeck Center houses books on California history and politics, secondary articles on Steinbeck, a complete archive of over 10, 000 reviews clipped the national newspapers, signed first editions, donated items, such as script drafts for films based upon the author's work, letters to friends, "The Long Valley Ledger", a manuscript of Steinbeck's short stories written in 1, and furniture which belonged to author.

Much of Steinbeck's observations focus upon areas south of San Jose, so one might ask, "Why is the center centrally located in San Jose?" San Jose if frequently mentioned in Steinbeck's fiction. The Center's mission, as stated by current director Susan Shillingslaw, is, essentially "…to promote Steinbeck studies". To this end the periodicals, transcripts, and archive manuscripts are easily accessed either personally or through an extensive database. The Center also sponsor's several programs, including the Steinbeck Fellows Program, made possible by former director Martha Heasley Cox, which "…offers new writers of any age the opportunity to pursue significant project in collaboration with other writers, faculty and graduate students." The John Steinbeck award, "in the souls of the people" is awarded to those individuals who best represent, through creative endeavor, the passion, beauty, and immaculate suffering of so many others. Past recipients have been Bruce Springsteen (16), John Sayles (18), Arthur Miller (1), and Jackson Browne (00). Twice a year the center publishes Steinbeck Studies, a newsletter of Steinbeck related topics.

The play 'The Club' written by David Williamson shows relationships of the characters through the dialogue and an example would be between Laurie Holden and he's relationship with Ted Parker.

From the beginning of the play you can tell that Laurie cant stand Ted through the prejudice shown in Laurie's dialogue (pg 1) 'I resent the fact that he's [Ted] come into the club with no background and no experience and carried on as if he's God almighty' and (pg 16) 'He's [Ted] never played a game of football in he's life'. Laurie uses the press to show how much he hates Ted by blaming he's resignation on the club president and also criticising about Ted to the press as well. Ted is obviously upset and he want's answer's answered (pg 10) 'He's [Laurie] called me an autocratic… he better come up with some evidence' Laurie responds with sarcasm (pg 10) 'I wouldn't know where to begin'. Laurie is always jumping down Teds throat and is always calling him a 'clown, little cretin and an owner of a meat pie factory (in a derogatory manner)' Laurie also calls Ted by his last name which in this play means aggressiveness and they are also distancing themselves with the use of the surname (pg ) 'Parker……… shut up, Ted, or I'll thump you'. Laurie gets the news that Ted has got into a lot of trouble with a stripper, which is obviously bad publicity for the club. Laurie uses this to his advantage and he ironically says to Ted (pg 60) 'They don't need you any longer, Ted. If they don't need me they'd sack me too.'

In the Stan Zemanek UE Radio Talk Back. Stan has the power because he is in control of the switch and he can switch it on or off whenever he wants and he uses this to his advantage. Whenever the caller starts to make sense he interrupts the caller by changing the subject and talking about nonsense ' we have 100,000 round holes can we fit 150,000 round pegs into them'. In the beginning Stan calls the caller a 'dill' but when he finds out that the caller is only 17 years old Stan bags the caller because he thinks that just because he is older he is much wiser and he calls the caller even more names like 'idiot, wretched little soul and misguided person'. When the caller attempts to take control by using economic jargon 'structural problem. It's a medium to long tem…' Stan interrupts with sarcasm 'Oh, please' and he shows he's power by immediately cutting the caller off.

During an interview between Launch magazine and Eminem. The language Eminem uses would absolutely shock the audience 'I banged a couple of chicks' he also uses slag 'really sucks in the scene' there is also of repetition 'its different…it takes you back it takes me back… So, it's different' He also swears when it's uncalled for 'The fucking world is my cousin'. He's fans expect this kind of language because all of he's songs have bad language in it and the language he uses is exactly like teenagers and most of he's fans are teenagers.Cheap College Papers on the club- the power of dialogue

I feel that the greatest challenge that I face as a teacher will be dealing with the individual diversities of my students and learning to see them individually. I plan to be a Special Education teacher and each child has particular problems. One may be an ADHD student, while another may have behavioral problems. Another may have a reading disability, but also come from a home of poverty and family problems. Each child has their own set of circumstances in life over which they have no control.

As a substitute teacher in many public schools I have experienced many situations and heard many "stories". I know of one student who was forced to watch her father commit suicide while she was tied to a bathroom toilet. Another came to school with her hair in disarray. When mom was addressed with this issue, she said that rats were living in the child's hair and the only way to get them out was to cut them out. Actual RATS!!! Mom's boyfriend was sexually abusing one child. I've had students with heads full of fleas as well as children who had severe lice. The parents were angry that their kids were not allowed back in school until it was dealt with and often say that they do not have time to deal with it. They act like it's OUR fault.

Family issues are a major source of problems for the children, as well. Single parent homes, where the mother/father is the sole caretaker, children who haven't seen their mothers/fathers in years, parents who have to work late every evening leaving no one to help a struggling child with homework, mom's problems with her violent boyfriend, child sexual abuse….you just never know what these children are going through at home. While not all of the students will have these types of problems, many do. How can a child be expected to come to school, have a good attitude and be excited about learning under these circumstances?

I think that the first way that I can prepare myself to deal with these problems is to get as much training and experience as possible before I start teaching. Classroom observation will be important in order to learn how experienced teachers deal with these situations. I realize that not every teacher will handle things appropriately, but most will and I can benefit from their experience. I have the utmost confidence that Southeastern will prepare me well.

Write my Essay on Teaching - What do I Feel will be My Biggest Challenge? for me

Also, I think that having a compassionate attitude is very important. Although I can not allow these problems to bring class progress to a halt, I need to be able to take time to talk with students who have problems, talk to the parents about ways to solve problems, and talk to my school administrators about how they would like for me to deal with these issues. I will rely heavily upon their input in such matters. I am determined to be a good teacher. I'm not looking to change the world, and yet…I would like to make a difference somewhere along the way. But, it's not about me…it's about them. RIGHT?
