Since working in news, I've seen a lot of stories about a lot of people doing a lot of things and I often say to myself, "people need to study God's word and ask Him for understanding."

In their "responsibility to inform the public and maintain an objective opinion" the station covered a protest on the "Domestic Partners Bill." As a single adult Christian hoping to marry someday, this bothered me.

For those of you who don't know, should this bill pass in Connecticut, homosexual (gay) couples would be granted the same rights as heterosexual couples, thus leading to the legalization of gay marriages. This law has already passed in Vermont. The fact that such legislation exists is truly a sign of the times.

At the demonstration, there were gay protestors with signs saying, "God is Love," "Judge not, less you be judged," and "Love makes a family." But in all the stories we've covered, why did this one get my attention?

The fact that the gays used the Word of God to justify a position that is contrary to the Word of God tickled me. I was then troubled that the Christians didn't use the opportunity to speak the Truth.

The Lord sent me to Proverbs 14, verse 1 of the New International Version that

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

He then pointed me to Timothy , verses 1 5 & 7 of the NIV

But mark this There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them…. [They are] always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.

The Lord sent me to Proverbs 141 to remind me that the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. If he can convince Mankind that two members of the same sex can live together as one, then he has stolen, killed and destroyed the true meaning of family.

When society tries to convince us that wrong is right and vice versa, we need not cower away and swallow what is being fed whether it's B.C. or 00 A.D. We as Christians have an even greater "responsibility to inform the public" of what thus say the Lord.

I wanted so desperately to say to all the protestors that, yes, God is Love, but "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth (1 Corinthians 16 NIV)."

And that's all I have to say about that.
